Currently almost done with 102, so I can understand some spoken dialogue. Reading is harder because I'm a lazy sack of **** who forgets to do his reps half the time so my kanji knowledge is limited.

I can read katakana. So if you count all of the ways to represent English words as katakana, that would be a lot. I also have some of the hiragana memorized.

I also know a few kanji from a level 1 Chinese class and from animu and video games.

Zilch.

I've played a handful of Japanese versions of my games, but I never really took the time to understand and learn...

I know a miniscule amount of spoken words though.

I have enough of a vocabulary from watching anime/playing japanese vidya for years to (probably) get the general gist of (most) conversations if I listen to the voices.

I can read a few characters from just memorizing stuff like "items" or "gel", but that's about it.

I can read hiragana and katakana.

Generally, I know enough to get by in import games thanks to years of importing games. Super Robot Wars specifically.

Very little. I can read an okay amount of katakana. My philosophy with imported Tales games is to play the game first, then get the story later.

I can understand what's generally going on. I know hiragana, katakana, and most of the common kanji. I'm better at understanding Japanese than speaking it. I definitely need to work on my grammar and conversation skills. Most of my Japanese education in high school was vocabulary-focused (and somewhat self-taught).

I can ~kind of~ read character names and item names, but that's from experience and a chart a friend gave me, I basically know nothing. I use translation guides for the script and pictures and memorization for the items and menu. And Walkthroughs for sidequests.

Just so you know I'm the biggest weaboo on this forum.

I like to pass myself off as a nerd who knows a lot of Japanese but I really don't.

It's kind of a sad life, really.

I'm studying Japanese at an intermediate level. I can understand a lot of basic things, but more nuanced dialogue gives me fits. My studies haven't been going as well as I'd hoped, since I had to drop my Japanese courses in order to graduate on time.
