Yes we know you're crying because there won't be any Japanese acting for you. Boo hoo indeed. |
And you are the one getting upset over me cracking a tiny, inoffensive joke that isn't even a stab at anyone here. _________________ Currently playing: テイルズオブエクシリア |

I'm not upset. I'm having a very good day. You presume too much. :D
Anyway August 6. I guess I can handle the wait, but it's still a stretch. |

Great to finally get a release date for Xillia, although i was hoping it was going to be a bit sooner. Ah well.

couldn't you just import from America? that's what i'll be doing, if the release date is significantly different. It's not like the localisation will be any different if you live in the UK (they never fix spellings like 'color') |

Hm, can you do that for the whole of Europe? No clue about region lock stuff and I'm kind of fearing EU might get the same treatment like when Graces F was localized.(You know, additional 6 months just for the funsies.)
Greetings from Germany. |

| Well, they only just got done talking about how importing in the EU subjects you to heavy fees and taxes somewhere around here. It's not exactly worth paying those charges just to get a game that's confirmed for release a few months earlier, I'd say. Unless you had like scads of disposable income or something. |

Greetings from Germany. | It's not like translating the entire game into all those different languages happened overnight. |

| I think it will release in Europe at the same time around. I mean Namco Bandai EU announced it last year on Japan Expo and I'm pretty sure they were targeting a simultanous release from the beginning, hence the holding back of the North American version. One reason might be not to harm the sales in Europe from importers? It could be since TotA and ToG did relatively well in Europe. |

In Tales of Graces F we only got French and German in addition to English for the written text, audio only English. Imo its quite easier to translate from English into German or French compared to Japanese -> English. I honestly cannot believe that it takes 6 months to translate 2 more languages when its just written text. If they also had Spanish, Russian or something else things would be different. Sadly it wasn't "all those", it was just 2.
Still, it would be nice if anyone could answer my question about the US version on a PAL console. No point in looking up how much additional fees I'd had to pay if it wouldn't work. Sometimes it isn't about the money, it also can be about the timing. Also depending on where you order the stuff, you might just pay like 5-8€ more for the shipping. Not that of a big deal I think.(Buying a console is a whole different thing though.)
On a side note, it might even be cheaper to actually import. Xillia is listed as 60$ on Amazon US, PS3 games are usually 60€ in Germany. If I go by the shipping cost listed on Amazon US it would be 66.50$ which is about 51.11€. Import taxes would be 16%(if you even have to pay them). 77.14$ which is 59.28€ with the current rates. So I might be paying roughly the same when I import. |

You really have no idea of how localization works if you think just translating some text is all it takes. (And no idea how translation works if you think it takes significantly less time to localize in two languages than in 4.)
And yes, PS3 is region free.
But I don't think there'll be much of a gap, if any. _________________

Thanks for the answer. Of course I hope that there isn't any gap, but I'd rather prepare for the worst.
I do realize that there is a difference from localization and just translating something. But from my experience the so called "localization" isn't impressive. Almost always I end up using the English one cause the German is not that good to put it mildly. Which is a problem across other mediums as well. Anyway, I'll stop here cause this is going off topic. |

No word on Europe yet, but Baba just did interviews with European press this weekend, so maybe we'll be hearing about it soon. _________________ Gaming in 2013:

Ugh so late! But I didn't get KH:3D until around that time as well I believe (ordered it online to get MoM edition) and I still finished with time to spare before Uni so this should be just fine~ it also gives me time, now I can pre order in like July! _________________

My only consolation is that I also have Animal Crossing New Leaf to tide me over during the summer.
Not sure what to do with the two months between now and then, though. |
