Since my CRT TV died and I don't have another CRT to plug my PS2 on, I was thinking on pluging it on the LED TV I bought yester year.
The thing is, I don't want to spend money on a component cable if it still looks like crap and unplayable.
Did anyone here use a PS2 on a LCD/LED TV with componet, is it playable? _________________

I use a component cable to play my Gamecube and it looks okay on my HD TV. Pixelated okay, but definitely not the same lolmud washed out colors / blurry look you get from trying to use composite cables on a big TV. _________________ SOON.

I've used my ps2 on my 720p HD-TV with component. It's not too bad. Maybe somewhat worse than the Wii because it isn't as powerful.
You can get third-party PS2 component cables for ridiculously cheap online though. That's how I got mine. I dunno if the situation is any different where you live though. _________________

Buy another CRT or look at craiglist for free TV ads. You can find a nice Sony Trinitron for $10 more or less at a medium size at a thrift shop. Instead of wasting 10 or more on crappy 3rd party component cables, you could use that money to buy a CRT instead.
PS2 games look like crap on a HDTV even when its properly calibrated with component cables. Consider that before making a decision. _________________ "Don't let it end like this...Tell them I said something." Pancho Villa

I dunno, I used component cables on my HDTV and it looks great. _________________ Support XSEED | Listen to Falcom music | Do life the right way

lol no. They're like $5 on monoprice.
But i'm not sure how well either of our suggestions will work as Arn lives elsewhere - Brazil I think? _________________

SSBM on LED TV = more fuzz than game. Anything else should at the very least be playable though because nothing else has the same degree of transparency.

Well that's going to be much harder then. Then I guess he has to get the cables then. _________________ "Don't let it end like this...Tell them I said something." Pancho Villa

| PS2 games that support Progressive Scan (480P) look great on HDTVs. 480i games look moderately better. Its still way better then using Composite on an HDTV. |

I'll stick with the cable then. Thanks a lot.

| If you can find a pair of the Energizer HD cables [http://www.amazon.com/Universal-Energizer-HD-Cable-Nintendo-Wii/dp/B001VIF68Q] they work wonders for the PS2 and Wii. They make the image on both my PS2 and Wii look a lot sharper and more crisp even on my 47" HDTV. |

That's just a "universal" component cable compatible with multiple systems. It does nothing special beyond that.
Still, if you're looking for a component cable for the Wii too, something like this would be an option to consider. _________________

Well, I've tried many other so called "universal" component cables and the energizers have been the best quality so far. I'm just saying is all. |
