Hrm. "Full potential" is one thing, but these were... yeah.
At any rate, I wonder if we'd get a trailer structured like the usual Japanese trailers. A minute or two of running around the world, followed by a combat showcase. Could probably benefit from showing people more of this universe. |

Has ANY game ever utilized its system to the fullest potential?
And is it me, or have the videos disappeared from the Tales Facebook page? |

Not surprised if they were removed. A lot of the comments on them were just complaints, Namco probably didn't want the bad publicity so they got rid of the videos. |

Yes and no.
Yes in that it's why there is a PS4 to do things the PS3 can't (the full range of hair and fluid clothing movements in massive environments. For example, current gen can't run the physics and individual strands for Lara Croft's hair in the new Tomb Raider -- PS4 can). Problem is, this kinda of time and effort and development cost a LOT... A lot of dev's may not want to go too crazy and spend that kind of money when they're still able to produce more than satisfactory results already. _________________ Updated Feb, 22,'13~!! *

The main reason I am looking forward to the PS4 is it uses and x86 architecture and has 8GB of ram. The system will be VERY easy to program for and have lots of power, so even if we don't get many better looking games, we will have better RUNNING games at least. I look forward to 1080p at 60fps......
......so long as Sony doesn't drop the ball and region lock it. I'm a little worried on that one, since when Shuhei Yoshida was asked about this, he refused to comment.
http://gematsu.com/2013/02/yoshida-cannot-yet-confirm-region-free-ps4
He seemed quite pleased to announce the PS4 won't block used games, so I don't get why he was so silent about the region lock issue. Hopefully I'm just being paranoid. |

You know what? I'm...actually pretty okay with Milla's voice.
It's a totally different direction than JP Milla, though, so I can see why people would be pretty iffy on it. _________________

Milla is the only one i'm still worried about, hopefully she'll be better in cutscenes as "This is the power of maxwell." felt so very very flat and bored.
Everyone else sounds really good so far. _________________

I'm curious what her thoughts would be about the changes... |
You know me too well
I'm really not happy with it tbh. I mean, in some cases, I understand and I approve. Teepo just fits better for English pronunciation. Exodus is a beautiful adaptation of Ark Noah.
But then you get Elize for Elise, which seems SO unnecessary and out of nowhere, and the failing to get the references right when Tales has usually been great with that in the past. And that Golden Sun argument doesn't hold because that's what they did in the Japanese version already. "Rakorum" for "Karakorum", "Kyzyl" for "Kyzyl Kum", "Ni Akeria" for "Akerianwala", "イル・ファン" for "イルハン", etc. Here, they're not changing the names to make the references more subtle (they already are!), they're changing them to make them lost. You can find Kyzyl Kum from just "Kyzyl" or whatever spelling variation looking like it, but "Kijara" is too different for that. Same with Nia Khera. And if that Fernmont thing is true...
Well, at least Kijara and Nia Khera look Asian, so they still fit, I guess. Fernmont, however... I hope it's just a mistake.
I just don't see the point of changing >< I'd feel better about it if I could hear an explanation, but it's probably not going to happen, heh.
Anyway, still don't like Milla's voice but OMG ELISE SOUNDS GREAT CAN'T WAIT TO HEAR MORE<3<3<3
(btw I think the German pronunciation of "Jude" and "Jyde" are similar; they just changed the spelling to avoid the connotation, I guess, but it's a bit weird since "Jude" is a real name and Germans probably pronounce it the English way already...) _________________

Uh ... no, they didn't. There were a few instances of the katakana not matching perfectly (which is par for the course when they're trying to convert non-English pronunciations in particular), but most of them were dead on.
Either way, they're keeping the Asian flair in the names, which I think is the only truly important part of most of the names. It's not like the Qyzylqum and Kijara Falls have much of anything in common beyond the name. The reason the names were truly worth maintaining in Abyss was that they connected with the symbolism of the sephiroth. Here, they're usually just place names with minimal relevance beyond reinforcing the setting.

I agree that it would've been nice to keep them, and I'm often similarly displeased with their choices, but in this instance, I don't think it matters much in the long run. _________________

I agree with Lunar. While it's nice that the names have references to real life places, they don't really affect the game play or alter the story in any way if they are changed. The only stuff I care about is the big stuff--like character names, choice of voices, etc....and as long as the plot stays the same.
Though the Il Fan to Fernmont change does bother me, as does Nia Khera because it was OBVIOUSLY "Ni Akeria" but whatever lol
Annnnnnd on that note...

Eeeh, I don't know about that. I mean, the Sephiroth symbolism is cool, but it's less relevant to Abyss as a whole than some of Xillia's place names are to Xillia's setting when you know what it's based on.
Anyway, I know it doesn't matter at all, it just bothers me because I personally really liked the naming theme this time around and I... don't see the reason why it needed to be changed? No need to fix what's not broken, yanno. Seeing how they'd handle the references was one of the things I was looking forward the most regarding the translation, so I'm pretty disappointed that so far their approach seems to be "ignore them". Anyway, just ignore me, I've always been anal about terms. I'll stop bringing up the subject.
EDIT: wtf Sharilton. Sounds like the name of a hotel _________________

Yume, do you happen to have a list of the references in the location names? Let's just say I'm interested/curious. _________________
