Another PS3 Tales of game is not something you should hope for.
By the time Namco gets around to localization, the PS4 will be out, the PS3 will be dead here, and you probably will never see the game.
If Namco plans to localize Xillia 2, it is in their best interest not to wait too long. |

^This. I sincerely doubt production on PS3 is gonna come to a screeching halt because a new toy is out. The wii, I could see (rhyme!), little was coming out at the end of its life cycle, but the PS3 is going strong and a lot of developers might not be ready to "commit" to super-graphics, especially seeing as how the market ain't doing to hot right now.

It is worth noting that all PS3 models sold were backwards compatible for about a year after PS3 came out.
The PS4 is confirmed not to be. Now, that doesn't mean people are just going to throw out their PS3s, but, people who bought first-gen PS3s likely picked up some of the later PS2 titles, just because they could.
Someone with a PS4 and no PS3 will not be buying PS3 games. Plus, the PS3 never hit the popularity here the PS2 had.
So while there will still be a customer base for PS3 games after the PS4 is out, it won't be as big as the customer base the PS2 had when the PS3 came out.
It is definitely a factor against us, even if only a small one. The fact that the PSVita is not backwards compatible with PSP discs is definitely is a strike against us getting any of the newer Japanese PSP games.
Also, the PS4 is much easier to develop for. 8GB of RAM and an AMD x86-based CPU. Even if you aren't out to make super graphic games, it is a better platform to use solely for development cost reasons. I doubt every single game on the platform is going to be a superbeast in terms of graphics.
Most of the first-gen PS4 games will likely just multiplatform titles you can also get on the PS3. Assassin's Creed 4 and Watchdogs are already confirmed to be on both PS3 and PS4. |
