Question About Artes/Spells

Do the artes and spells have "hidden" effects like in Vesperia? Do artes like Rampart Sign and Healing Circle have a bigger circle of effect the more you use them?

They do improve, but the bonus effects aren't hidden. Whenever you equip a title that has an arte on it, you'll usually see that arte appear multiple times on that and other titles. Each time you "learn" an arte, it improves in the manner specified to the right of the arte name in the title info. This can affect arte radius, cast time, total damage / restoration, accuracy, and critical rate, as well as adding status effects, granting the ability to steal, enabling altered arte chaining, introducing the potential for CC recovery on hit, and much more. You can see all active effects by toggling the arte information window at the bottom of the screen when you hover over it in the menu.

Like Lunar said, the effects aren't hidden. In Vesperia you have to increase Arte usage for additional effects to occur automatically. In Graces you just need to increase Arte usage to unlock the titles that grant the additional effects you need. Every Arte in the game has two titles, and every Arte title has from two to three special effects, or "upgrades".
