I tried Zero before, didn't get past 3 hours because I don't know what's going on and where the hell am I supposed to go.

That also applied to TitS FC when I played the Japanese version...gave up before done the prologue, or, 1/4 of it.

This was when I was still in my country where 16 year olds can't get money to buy legit stuff.

Well in my case: the combat is fun, but not something that can get you addictive for hours and hours like Tales and Ys. I usually import only Tales games and action RPGs since I know I'll spend a lot more time in the combat than the actual story.

With the Kiseki/Trails series, I just can't do that. (Romanticizing a bit) There is a whole world that I could explore, characters that I can interact and feel with, and stories that shows how well crafted and careful consideration was given to them, and plot twists and foreshadowing that can make people excited, and since XSeed's Tom (the main translator) did say the enjoyment for the series is mainly understanding the story and characters, and that the series is a 30-70 Combat-Story ratio, I don't want to experience the game in a language I know zilch and nuts about.

Kinda hypocritical when it comes to Tales games, but, I don't want to waste 80+ dollars (since Falcom games don't seem to have Asian versions) on a game that the writing is the most enjoyable part as well.

Of course I'm not saying you should not play the games since they're not in English, and this decision may be because I place Ys higher than the LoH series in my scale, I just feel like these games are more enjoyable in a language that I can understand.

Besides, with that amount of text in a game, and the game's enjoyability is that large amount of text, I want to at least understand it...even if I hate reading past a certain number of words.

P.S. In my current playthrough of TitS I'm actually in Chapter 1 now. And it clearly shows that Estelle and Joshua, (and, from what I heard, the other characters in the series overall), are great characters with different personalities. And god, those empty chest one-liners. "I AM ERROR"

well yeah, there's no question they'd be more enjoyable in english

but i think just playing them period would be more enjoyable than...not. Admittedly this isn't the case for SC and just me being into the game/bored, but with the ones past there...yeah.

also paged

btw is there a good wiki or even somewhere i can get basic event summaries of the japanese games

there's already a guide on gamefaqs so that'd be about all I need(though I can just creep forums/discussions etc if i have to but)

also i can get why you'd want to wait for the localizations, but oddly enough I play Japanese games just for the experience of playing them. tbh tales battle systems, fun as they are, I still import mainly for the experience of having played the game

Nope. Only with Tales.

I can't enjoy it unless I understand it. But if you can then that's great man. But I can't do that. : (

Even with a wiki, which I as much as possible don't want to use for story progression, just for missable sidequests, I feel that it'll be hard to play for me.

This. I'll just satisfy my Kiseki cravings by listening to Inevitable Struggle infinite times.

Pardon me for going off topic, but can anyone link me to a complete guide or walkthrough of Zwei 3 Nayuta no Kiseki? Being an action game, I thought I could blitz through the game like Ys, but there seems to be plentiful amount of side quests and mechanics, so it's pretty hard to go in blindfolded.

Even japanese wiki is fine, as long as it has side quests guide and stuff.

Might as well just make this a general Legend of Heroes topic at this point >_>

Just about done with TitS. I started up the PC version of SC for a moment just to make sure I installed everything correctly and man the PC versions of these games are way more beautiful than the PSP versions.

The only downsides the PC version I remember is that they added 2 more playable characters to the PSP port.

it's k ill probably buy the PS3 version when it comes out as I can't have FC sitting on my shelf by itself, and even if we get SC it's most likely gonna be on steam

especially as i won't need to be plastered to a guide for my second playthrough

More like Gagharv Trilogy: Zwei 3 no Kiseki gg

Oh and kenny, PSP and PS3 saves for the Sora trilogy are transferable. The contents are the same, really. PS3 version's only upside from PSP ver is that it has PC ver's prettiness.

Holy crap when the hell did the Falcom discussion begin?? Why have I not been summoned earlier?

I guess I am a masochist because I got through SC all the way to Ao clocking over 1000 hours altogether, mainly from having no idea what to do and roaming around spamming X at nearly every NPC. That said I still enjoyed the heck out of it, localizations 30 years from now would still be cool.
If you don't mind Japanese text flying at you then by all means have fun.
Falcom games in general are enjoyable, I do prefer LoH over Ys because of in depth characters and PLOT.

SC PS3 should be coming out in April-ish in HD.
I have FC Kai HD but never got around to playing it.

Last thing, gotta love Falcom OST.

You sure you've played Gagharv Trilogy? I'm not pushing you into playing it, but....

Praise Aidios, do I love AToV so much. The translation is the worst of the trilogy, sure, but I really love AToV. I love PotMW for its fun character interactions and OST. SotO is a big letdown so far (I can go on a long rant on how much I hate Aria and Aida), but the gameplay and returning AToV cast (especially Thomas and Avin) make up of it.

You can read my Gagharv Playthrough on GameFAQs (link on my sig).

Oh and if someone has plot-related questions from latter Kiseki games, you can ask me. But I'm not sure I can answer everything, though.

oh, great, right around my bday

if i have fun with SC on the PC(don't see why not, I play japanese **** all the time) i'll probably pick up the PS3 port of SC+Ao/Zero at the same time.

fortunately SC's walkthrough actually has complete summaries of every scene

dunno about third though the gameplay sounds wacky, ill have to see, might be a lower priority

I kinda have to agree with the horse bit lol.

Also, Falcom is re-releasing the Sora no Kiseki games on Windows 8...chances for them to include the extras in? Maybe not...
