so, the chosens body is offered to martel in hopes of reviving her.

Zelos is a Chosen, and male.

Would Mithos have attempted to put Martels consciousness in a male body?

Not all Chosen are going to become potential vessels, and those chosen for that specific task are always female (obviously).

I wonder at what point Yggdrasill would have become desperate enough to force Martel into a male body xD

I don't remember if it's ever stated that the Chosen who they try to use as a vessel is always a female. However, we know that Zelos himself was never a candidate, because Tethe'alla was not in decline by the time he was born and so he wouldn't have had to go on the Journey of Regeneration regardless of what was happening on the Sylvarant side. As for other males, I don't recall the game ever specifying, but it seems to me that they're just incidental. I mean, Mithos is effectively breeding humans to make a vessel for Martel. It's apparent they have no way of controlling whether a male or a female is born, but it seems likely that Mithos would wait for a female. He'd been at this for four thousand years. If it came down to it, I don't think waiting one more generation would kill him. Smile

(Regarding the whole Mana Lineage thing, it's clear that the Chosen status is passed down from parent to child on the Tethe'alla side because Zelos talks about it several times. On the Sylvarant side, it's less clear, since I seem to recall at one point it's implied that Colette was merely selected out of nowhere signified by being born with a Cruxis Crystal in her hand. Yet, early in the game Raine mentions oracles sent to control marriages, so this implies that the Chosen status is passed down from parent to child in Sylvarant too.)

The Mana Lineage actually has a lot of branches, and Colette is from one of those (or the main branch who knows). All the "Chosen Candidates" live in locations far away from each other so they wouldn't all be wiped out if a natural disaster were to occur.

Also, I seem to vaguely recall Colette mentioning that she is the 7th chosen...

Taking into account that both Sylverant and Tethe'alla counted their own Chosen only that's still very few for 4000 years.

Or did she say only 7 (Sylveranti) ever succeeded?

Maybe they just count the chosens who actually journey through the world to do the ritual of regeneration?

On that note, did they ever told you how many years Silvarant was the declining world?

Edit: I just remembered something, while the mana lineage does include several branches scattered through the world. But only very few became the chosen (aka. the people who Cruxis actually wants).

So maybe several years (it could be hundreds) happen between the death of a chosen and the birth of another one?

it was Remiel I believe. something like:

"Her Journey to Heaven, as the 7th Chosen. we of Cruxis bless this event, and hereby bestow the Tower of Salvation, Upon Sylvarant!"

800. At least something like that was said in DotnW by Brutus, iirc.

The World Regeneration Journeys have been going on for 4,000 years, Colette is the 7th Sylvaranti Chosen and Sylvarant has been in decline for 800 years. Knowing that, it's logical to have a World Regeneration every 250 years, give or take.

It's all explained in one of the guides. I think there's a discussion thread about that topic somewhere in this section, dating from 2010, I think.

In any case, I'm just gonna re-link to my translations of the guide: 1, 2.
