This is an introduction.
So,
Hi. I am a newcomer here. I thought I should sign up because I recently became a fan of the Tales series (like, really recently, although I was certainly aware of its existance years in advance of this) after playing through the 3DS port of Tales of the Abyss. After that, I ignored the recommendations I imagined myself getting for Tales of Symphonia and went straight to Phantasia. (I wanted to play the first game next out of respect, I guess? And because I felt it would give me an interesting perspective on the later games, seeing how far the series has come from its first installment) I have yet to finish it, but I'm pretty near the end, I think (the future is close to the end, right? Not counting all the sidequests and stuff?) and I am happy to have finally completed my six-man band with the addition of Suzu to my party. And now I'm off to do sidequests and collect magic treasures in order to reveal the fortress of an alien king who's trying to save his people from death by mana deprivation. And then kill him. Man, putting it that way, it really doesn't sound so heroic, but whatever.

Anyway, I hope I can get along with people here, and stuff.

Hahahahahaha.

Sorry.

One of the main points Phantasia is trying to make is that what Cress and co are doing is not that heroic...

Anyways, welcome to the forums Starlight6x6!

I really hope you will play Symphonia next (it's chronologically set before Phantasia in the same world, the first of it's timeline). Other members will surely recommend you Graces f, VePS3ria, Legendia, Rebirth, Hearts, Eternia and Destiny Remake.

Phantasia is widely regarded as one of the worst installments of the series, only better than Tales of the Tempest and possibly the Radiant Mythology spinoffs. Which version are you playing currently? (which console)

I'm pretty sure you'll get along with the people here just fine. Nice avatar btw.

I imagine he(?)'s playing Phantasia on GBA, as it's the only one in English.

ToPhantasia X on PSP is actually a lot better, but too bad, it's in Japanese only.

Anyway, welcome to the forums, and I hope you'll enjoy your stay!!

I actually reallly enjoyed Phantasia, don't let everyone else convince you it's a bad game. I never would have even gotten into the Tales series if it weren't for Phantasia.

Anyway, Welcome and I hope you enjoy both Phantasia and this site.

Thanks for the welcomes, everyone!
Right off the bat, confirming Flamfas' guess about my gender; I am, in fact, a guy.

I am playing ToP on the GBA, and I'm aware of the intentional-ness(...?) of the moral questionability of the heroes' actions.

I am actually liking Tales of Phantasia. It certainly shows its age compared to Abyss, but it's still pretty good. With some updates to the combat formula and story depth I think it could be a fantastic game. ...Of course, isn't that what the PSP remake is praised for doing? I could be wrong.

And, Symphonia is certainly the next logical place to go from here, considering I'm all but Nintendolocked as systems go, and the full Symphonia saga is playable on my Wii. (No, I'm not gonna skip over DotNW, even if fans say it's far worse than Symphonia) I do also have a PS2, so I could get some Tales games that are playable on that, but I'd need PS1 memory cards for some of them, I think.

Phantasia GBA is mildly enjoyable, but the PSP version spoiled me. No spell pause!!

And cool, I guessed right. Cool

I'm one of the few members of this forum who genuinely likes DotNW, so I will recommend it to you.

I think it's really enjoyable, but I do admit that it could have been so much more than it is. All the missed potential is probably why I like it so much (imagination), and I personally believe it has the best LMBS of the series. Around Step, Fatal Strikes and stuff like that would've been really nice to have though.
