I personally prefer Rebirth, so great choice! But Destiny is a close second, so you really couldn't have gone wrong.

wat.

I mean, I'm loving my ToD2 playthrough, but ToDr is way better.

maybe if you're a mindless spammer and don't like really good battle music

ToD2 has an incredibly unique battle system that can actually take awhile to learn and grasp and get good at with the 3 melees and has the best battle themes in the whole series

ToDr is just the first CC system without any of the cool new additions like A/B artes, Around Step and EG later on down the line where normal attacks are useless and Hi Ougis are incredibly spammable

tod2 also doesn't have awful dungeon designs so gimme that plz

destiny remake raped the PSX soundtrack, it's awful

while ToD2 has:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0cj1sRcSUkw

it even has a version of bare it's fangs in the game without all the awful other sakuraba "music" in ToDr

as far as battle system goes todr is only better if you're a button mashing monkey imo. tod2 actually makes you think as you play and it's something you can really learn and get better at that doesn't involve just messing with your equipment and levels or exploiting weaknesses.

ToDr is either really easy or stupid hard depending on your difficulty and it's second only to Hearts in spamming **** mindlessly(except at least in hearts im spamming actual moves and not hi ougis), and normal attacks are completely useless. Graces fixed this issue on the CC system with A artes and the focus on evasion but ToDr is pretty mindless unless you're on a higher difficulty which even then is more about the stuff on your equipment instead of true skill.

destiny 2 and rebirth are like the two games in the series that actually have a really potentially high skill ceiling(in that if you learn the game you can get REALLY good at them) and the AI smart enough to keep up with you if you do decide to try and learn the game that well as opposed to just getting destroyed on harder difficulties.

Yeah I choose Rebirth. Thanks guys!
I am pleased.

I personally feel that Rebirth has the best battle system (of the games I've played).

Gotta admit that Barbatos 2 and 3 in TOD2 were High Skill-Testing and awesome battles.

But don't forget most of the game relies on Meatshielding Kyle or OP Harold.

And Judas for Japs.

destiny has the better story

just get rebirth first because

1 its better

2 if you get the psp version you dont have to worry about modding or getting swap magic

also barby is only an actual character in tod2, hes just a cameo in todr. ps tod2 is also way better than todr.

also ToH DS is ToDr but with way better story and characters so id recommend that over ToDr if you have a DS

ps tod2 is also way better than todr.

I literally did the guide on ToD2 and I disagree. I'm also one of the few who read and spoke the entire script.

yeah so? it's not like recording the game gives you some PhD in tales opinions or something and i've already addressed why i find tod2 to be way better and todr to be flashy colors and spammy move central(complete with awful dungeons and a partially butchered soundtrack)

Relentless Assault was pretty much the only bad song on ToDR's soundtrack, and it only plays for 2 battles in the game. The rest of the soundtrack ranges from okay to **** fantastic.

I'll never understand the ToD2 soundtrack circlejerk. I really don't think it's anything special.

Admittedly, that is a really cool track, but ToDr's OST isn't bad. I thought it was perfectly enjoyable.

ToDr is fun because you can do crazy aerial combos without waiting around for TP to recover. Admittedly, it can be a little broken, but that doesn't mean it's not fun.

eh, aerial is purely a visual thing unless it's like ToV or ToIR where you need to put a lot of effort into leaning how to keep the enemies aerial. It's pretty automatic with the right moves in ToDr and ToH.

Stunned enemies are stunned enemies as far as i'm concerned ground or air it really doesn't make a difference, at least Xillia actually did something with Aerial with letting Milla cast in the air where she can't be harmed as easily besides "it's so cool they're in the air guys even though it serves basically the same purpose in the ground because in tales once you've stunlocked, you've stunlocked"

I played ToD2 once. Not really a fan of the battle system, but it was entertaining. My major grip was that Judas, Kyle and Loni did so little damage compared to Harold or Reala. Nanaly was pretty useless for me. The enchant thing was pretty awesome, though, and I would love to see it in another Tales. Also, I have to admit ToD2's battle themes are amazing. But they're not Battle Organization, the best battle theme ever.

Anyways, I'm glad the OP decided on playing ToR. It's definitely my favorite, with ToDr being a reaaaaally close second.

I loved Batista's battle because of that song.
