| The designs are great, but Celsius and Volt should have been "acquired" by Milla at some points. |

Not Milla, Jude. Origins are Jude's domain. But it wouldn't have made sense, plot-wise. At the end of X2, though... _________________

Musee is a great spirit. We're talking about the summon spiits.
On another note: Aska is in Xillia? What about Shadow? |

Uhm. I'm pretty sure that just because she can't be 'summoned' doesn't mean she's not a summon spirit. Every spirit (seirei) in Xillia is a summon spirit, it's just that some are 'grand' spirits while most others are very minor. By your logic, Undine and co wouldn't be summon spirits either because they're the four great spirits.
At least, that's how I see it. Correct me if I'm wrong here. _________________ "TEACH ME ABOUT BAZONGAS!!!"

They're just called spirits, not summon spirits anyway. Only in the English localizations of Symphonia and Legendia are they called "summon spirits".
The Great Four spirits technically aren't "summon" spirits because humans weren't able to summon them twenty years prior the events of Xillia. Only Milla could summon them. Nor are Celcius and Volt since they are dead and appear as origin. _________________ Icon via iconography. |

Actually, they could summon them until 20 years before the beginning of Xillia.
But yeah, "summon spirit" is an English-only term (and ToS/ToL-specific). The Japanese word has no "summoning" meaning, and the French translation didn't use "summon" either.
Calling them "summon spirits" wouldn't make sense here, even if they can technically be summoned (@Meowzy: Musee included).
In Xillia, they're divided in three categories:
-The Three Original Spirits (Maxwell, Khronos, Origin)
-Great Spirits (Efreet, Undine, Gnome, Sylph, Musee, Aska, Shadow, Pluto, Volt (turned origin), Celsius (turned origin); there could be more, who knows...)
-Lesser Spirits
@Lunar: iirc, the spirit of Darkness is Shadow. Pluto is the spirit of Hell or smth. _________________

Hang on, aren't they called Summon Spirits in Phantasia too? Or does that depend on which localization version you play?
In Vesperia, it's translated to "Elemental spirits", but I think that's the only other game where they're referred to as "seirei". In Eternia, they were called Craymels, but the Japanese term was different too so that doesn't count.
Either way, my original point stands. Musee's in the same league as Undine and co, thus she deserves to be in the poll. _________________ "TEACH ME ABOUT BAZONGAS!!!"

Iirc, didn't Jude also have an attack where he would summon Musee, similar to Milla's with the four great spirits? _________________

That was probably less summoning and more hysterical screaming for her to help him. _________________ "TEACH ME ABOUT BAZONGAS!!!"

They are referred as simply "spirits" in both Phantasia and Vesperia. Only a few times they are called "elemental spirits" in Vesperia; most of the time it's just "spirit". In the Japanese versions, they are known as "seirei" in Phantasia, Symphonia, Vesperia, Legendia, and the Xillias. _________________ Icon via iconography. |

Celsius will forever be my favorite Summon Spirit, whether she actually is one or not.
All this talk about summon spirits makes me want to design a game in which it's a central plotpoint/ game mechanic...
Are there people in Xillia (2) that summon "unfamiliar" summon spirits? (in battle?). Like, spirits that don't have an elemental motive or maybe secondary elemental summon spirits?
That'd be quite interesting to see if you ask me. _________________ Also known as Sliv, Slivvie, Quilvius, Slivendiferious, and slivijizzisious

I've never wanted that necessarily, but I've always thought that they should make the spirits actually visibly control the elements rather than just sitting in temples and whatnot. I'd really like a game where Aska carries the sun across the sky in his beak, Luna draws the moon behind her chariot, a plethora of undines populate the waterways, sylphs float around on the wind, gnomes inhabit the forests, etc. _________________
