Nope. "Chibi" for the most part is just a more modern term fans use to refer to the "Super Deformed" style.
I only knew of it as "Super Deformed" when I first got into anime and then the term "chibi" eventually took over. | BTW how old are you? I'm pretty sure I was seeing the term "chibi" by the time I joined this forum...
But I do acknowledge that chibi came later, because I don't think anime nerds tried to insert that much Japanese into their discussions in the earlier days. _________________

29. I'm not that old compared to some forum members, it's just kind of become a running gag to act on occasion like I'm the token 30-something (or older) party member in a Tales game (Malik, Jade, etc) surrounded by a bunch of teenagers.
When I first got into anime I think the term "chibi" did kind of exist in western anime fan lingo, but it wasn't to the point where SD was pretty much exclusively referred to using the term. We leaned more toward "Super Deformed" or the abbreviation back then, or at least the group of people I chatted with on IRC at the time did. _________________

I just used brute force to put mine together. That is what mechanics like myself do. A bigger hammer solves ALL problems.
Oh, and lots of glue and tape. Wait, I didn't need tape this time, just glue. Sophie's pigtails wouldn't stay on for some odd reason... _________________

@Andre Hahahaha, yeah. That would be the reason I used the term "joints" to refer to what he described. Though the awkwardness is still kinda there.

Same with me, one of her pigtails really don't like me. That, and Jude is giving me trouble. I finished everyone else, though. |

THEY'RE HERE!
I got them all assembled except for my duplicate, which was... a second Jude.
I'll probably take a picture sometime in the next few days. For now, my fingers hurt like hell from putting those stands together and Yuri's stand didn't want to snap in for the longest time and AAAAARRRRRRGGGGH and I'm just kinda TIRED. That was ridiculous.
One of Sophie's twintails didn't want to go on, but I managed to get it on without needing glue. It was a pain getting Yuri's sword in his hand in such a way that it wouldn't fall out, and WTF with Leon's cape, man. You have to pop off the poor guy's head to get it on and then there's that stupid peg! I don't think I got the cape's peg all the way into his back, but his head should hold it on good enough anyway.
But they're done! All 7 figures are assembled, and they are glorious!
The extra Jude can just sit in his box until i decide whether I should bother with him. _________________

Just off-hand I think Linkin Park had an anime music video at some point...Breaking the Habit or something?
I'm sure there are other reasons, but the point is that they either know people, like these kinds of cross-promotions or are well known in Japan. _________________
