Huh... aren't Reid and Farah the only ones who have mystic artes per se?

Chat's Eternal Throw isn't a mystic arte in Eternia, only in RM3; Max's Elemental Master isn't a mystic arte in Eternia nor in RM3; Rem and Shadow are mystic artes for Keele and Meredy in RM3, but only standard summons in Eternia, not mystic artes.

I'm pretty sure alot of people consider Elemental Master (which has a cut-in) and Eternal Throw MAs. And Keele/Meredy have Indignation (depends on who has it at the time).

Exactly; although they're not technically Mystic Artes, they function virtually the same by being powerful, flashy attacks that stop the battle until finished. Most people consider them MAs, including Namco since these moves became official MAs in RM3 (as you mentioned).

It's virtually guaranteed any remake would do the obvious in bumping them up to their proper tier; so asking for everyone to have MAs is really just asking for their MAs to be made official, because why would they replace them with brand new ones?

Ditto! Aqua Spiral is easy to spam with the Mystic Symbol and extremely powerful just for a 5 hit attack.

I would like to change the stagger rate on some of these bosses its so impossible to keep a combo going sometimes.

I dunno what else XD.

Well most MA's/Hi Ougis in the tales of games don't appear in the artes menu because Eternal Hammer, Elemental Master and Mints Time stop in Phantasia DO appear in the menu I don't count and of the 3 as MA's at all.

Yes I do count Blue Earth and the other 6 Maxwell Extensions in Eternia as 1 long MA chain when you use it.

I feel better AI would be a given here.

Rebalance the relation system; Make relation values visible in a way similar to Innocence DS.

Maybe push back DotNW's occurrence a few hundred years down the timeline, making it less dependent on the appearance of poorly handled versions of the old cast.

I'd rather have an overlimit system with a little bit more of a control factor. I think full-fledged MAs would be a given along with that.

ToS had pretty solid character development, but I wish there was a bigger focus on the character's thoughts, beliefs, backstories, and more of that. A lot of this was explained, but maybe I'm just looking for characters as fleshed out as Tales of the Abyss did them. As the above poster said, relationship tracking would have been nice too.

ToS:DotNW was definitely something much less than ToS was. If nothing else, add a real party of characters. Not just a pair of mediocre characters. You need people with charm. Two funny villains and a snide NPC buddy isn't enough. You need characters with a deep personality. The way the old cast was implemented was pretty bad too.

I really liked ToS and I found ToS:DotNW tolerable. I do think they could have used some polishing.

I think Symphonia is a game in which a double MC system would have worked well (also very interesting to couple it with the affection system).

Develop Regal and Presea more. The OVA had a few great scenes.

There should have been an option to keep both Kratos and Zelos (ex: Kratos path when Zelos has max affection?).

I like the idea of Dawn being set further in the future.

I would just get rid of the friendship system. Not that I hated it, but my main problem with it was that we could just "see" one character's back story a bit more explained.

Genis and Raine. Their mother is only seen during a missable SIDE quest. After all it is at least important for Raine. I wonder what Genis thinks about that, too XD

Regal and Presea, yeah. It's less about their back story and more about their interaction with the others during the game. Does someone know what they think about Kratos or Sheena? Or Presea and Raine?

Zelos. We do not learn much about his past during the game. The story worked without it, yeah, but it would have helped to make him more likeable. Without knowing that there is such a friendship system many people do not learn about his past much at all.


Now, that I talked about Zelos:
Make Seles playable. I see why she could not come with the group, however, it felt strange to me when she still was not "rescued" when the team was marked as traitors and she was still left there. Even the Pope mentioned that he had her... kind of. After that point it would have been a reason to bring her along.

Aside from Seles, I wish for a playable Yuan. He could join during the last dungeon.


Artes/Battle:
Get rid of the T-S tree. Give more Artes to everyone, just because XD
At least Sheena could use some more (ninjalike?). Some of Rita's book attacks could be formed to be perfect for Sheena's cards.
Do I have to mention things, that are already standards? Razz

Seeing relationship values would be awesome!

Definitely put more of everyone's backstory into the main quest, I didn't even KNOW anything revealed about Zelos in the OVA before it came out :/

Add in some scenes from the OVA that were really good, namely, Presea's fight with Regal.

MORE CHARACTER INTERACTION ACROSS RELATIONSHIPS, I feel like everyone was tied to Lloyd, and some people to each other, but we didn't really see much Presea-Raine as an example someone used, or like Regal-Zelos. We didn't even see much Raine-Regal until DotNW, they were just kind of there together before so people could pretty much think anything.

Some physical techs for Genis and some insta-cast summons for Sheena (preserving her stronger version summons for overlimit) Still keep one unique mystic arte for Sheena, maybe put each summon under different conditions. More ninja techs for Sheena, or at least more things that are actually offensive and comboable with her cards.

Even more unison attacks than were added in the PS2 version :3

I also could see Seles being playable. And then go the route of the OVA (Except with Kratos rejoining the party) and then the party is genderally balanced.

Make the costumes scenes give EVERYONE their costume titles.

DotNW:

Make the requirements for the True End less random.

Show what the bodies of the other Centurions look like.

Other than that I was pretty satisfied xD Maybe even more Alice and Decus stuff.

Have Tenebrae assist in battle sometimes with certain unison attacks or artes.

Dawn of the new world needs alot of help lets start with music it needs some more memorable, catchy, and sound good tracks that were all familiar with in other games.

Make the Symphonia characters level up through the game it's dumb there guests and pointless to the team of Emil, Marta and monsters.

Get rid of the numerous pointless scenes where we watch Emil transform to Ratatosk so effortlessly just because he got pissed off or Lloyd was mentioned.

Get rid of the numerous black screen explain this to me scenes (where the characters tell what happened to the Symphonia cast).

Change the attacking sound effects i know this is dumb but i think its annoying plus it seems like you don't damage that much in this game.

Change the unison attack back to the original form where all characters participate via the four buttons and you can choose your combination unison attack depending on what you select like usual.

Change Marta's range of her attacks to go a little bit further if she's gonna be a hybrid she needs to be better at the physical attack part.

Fix Marta's cast time yes there is speed cast but it's still slow.

Regal's Final Fury COUGH COUGH!

If i keep going on i'll feel like im writing an essay for English class so i'll stop here XD.

What would I change to Symphonia and DotNW, huh? Oh boy... wall of text ahoy!

Symphonia
-Get rid of the Technical/Strike arte tree to make a single arte tree per character. That would mean less artes per character, but come on, just keep the most useful of both trees. I mean, why wouldn't Genis learn both Prism Sword and Indignation as he levels up? I don't know, when you first try the game, you equip your characters with exspheres rather "randomly" and it bounces back and forth between Strike and Technical without a single notice. I thought that Strike was for offensive characters and Technical for defensive ones. So yeah, just one arte tree, but make it bigger, which bring me to my next point...

- If they wish to add more artes, then have the characters learn them as they level up even higher, because the "level cap" for new artes is around 60, so have them learn new artes pass that point up to 100.

- Make Overlimit triggerable by the player voluntarily, do NOT make it happen at random. Seriously, that's a useless feature because it's not under your control, make it like Abyss or Vesperia, which brings me to my next point...

- Sheena should summon her spirits as spells, just like Claus can in Phantasia (and both Keele and Meredy in Eternia... I think), WITHOUT OVERLIMIT. Someone at Tales Studio thought it was a good idea to make her signature ability unusuable most of the time. Wow, just wow...

- Make Efreet and Sylph mandatory bosses. Undine and Luna are, so why not these two? That brings me to my next point...

- Sheena barely uses the Sylvarant spirits in major events. By making them mandatory, she would, which brings me to my next point...

- You know that cannon/laser-like arte Sheena uses at one point, how about make it a usuable arte?

- You know the spinning kick that Raine uses and the rapid-whipping move Genis uses in the intro? Yeah, that didn't make it to their moveset somehow... so not only add them, but give them a few weapon-based artes as well.

- Remove the frienship/relationship system. The player is completely in the dark as there's NO indication (a smiley, a heart or whatever) to show the relationship level. Furthermore, the canon ending is the one where both Zelos and Kratos live, so why bother with something that changes the outcome so drastically? At least Kratos's and Zelos's roles are better used when the canon ending is used.

If that was removed, the story would be more focused on the characters' true back stories and such, and you wouldn't miss them due to a low relationship score.

- Give an equal number of Compound Special Attacks to everyone, and per level, because the artes in Symphonia are split into 3 levels. For instance, give Lloyd 3 CSAs when teamed with every of the other characters; same with Colette, give her 3 different CSAs when she's teamed up with Lloyd.

- If 2 CSAs would be possible during a Unison attack, then both should be executed. For instance, if Lloyd uses Twin Tiger Blade, Colette uses Hammer Rain, Genis uses Indignation and Raine uses Ray, in that order, then I should get both Pow Blade and Prism Stars, because both CSAs would have gotten the requirements.

- More Darkness spells. Seriously, aside from Shadow, which is a rare summon to get in battle due to that Overlimit BS, what other Darkness spells do the characters have??? Gravity Well? Nope it's a non-elemental spell in ToS. Violent Pain, Bloody Howling, Demon's Lance, Negative Gate, Black Hole? Nope... nothing, at all...

- More Light spells. Raine only has Photon and Ray or Holy Lance, the latter being unusable for Prism Stars and Genis only has Prism Sword... yeah... kind of lackluster, especially without spells like Divine Streak, Holy Rain, Grand Cross and such.

-Mystic Artes being less of a pain to use. Overlimit, preferably to be triggered by the player himself, then a combo, then an Arcane Arte, then BOOM! Mystic Arte. Yes, I know it wasn't implemented like that when the game came out, but that's something I would like to get.

- Speaking of Mystic Artes, did the bosses had one? I don't recall any of them nuking me with a MA. If not, then give a MA to them.

- Voiced skits, ok, maybe that's a localization thing, but still...

That would be it for Symphonia
