I still don't understand why people hate on Shadow Dragon. It's not the most exciting FE I've ever played, but I still enjoyed it.

What? |
Britta being melodramatic, what's new?
I'm excited for this game to, but it's hardly revolutionary. _________________ Gaming in 2013:

Because it's ridiculously antiquated for a remake.
If people played the original, they wouldn't be so harsh on it. But they expect a lot more from a remake. At least I did. _________________ Support XSEED | Listen to Falcom music | Do life the right way

Ah. I will admit that the story was ... forgettable. That's all I really have to say about it, as I literally don't remember anything about it apart from that Marth was in it.
Gameplay was still the same though, so I enjoyed that part enough. _________________ Gaming in 2013:

| I believe gameplay being the same was exactly the problem. Seeing as Fire Emblem's mechanics had gone through quite a bit of tweaking by then, to have the remake's gameplay bear so much similarity to the original just seemed archaic and clunky. |

To each their own. Definitely not my favorite FE though.
But ugh. One thing that bothered me in Shadow Dragon (and New Mystery) ... Calvary movement. I like how it works in PoR, where you can move, attack, then finish moving. Also, rescuing is very nice. Are those elements present in Awakening? _________________ Gaming in 2013:

Well not rescue but dual, which is the same thing. Only that the rescued char support you and so on. _________________

Though the terms will probably change during localization, the Double function (not Dual) is what mimics Rescue, though it works in reverse, with the slave unit requesting Double status from the master unit. Also, instead of sacrificing stats to occupy the same space on the map and take advantage of the superior movement abilities of the master, the master unit actually experiences a statistical boost based on slave class and support level between the two. On top of that, both can attack simultaneously when in Double.
Dual, on the other hand, refers specifically to bonuses received when characters are either in Double mode or standing adjacent to one another (i.e. Dual Attack, Dual Support, Dual Guard, etc.). Basically, you don't have to be in Double mode to take advantage of Dual bonuses. _________________

Oooh. Ok, it's sounding like this is a game mechanic I'll like. _________________ Gaming in 2013:

Something cool about Dual-- it can allow say, a Sword wielder, to attack as faraway from an enemy as Range 4. Yeah, a Range 1 weapon murdering the face of someone from Range 4.
Just have the Sword user be adjacent to an Archer/Sniper and use a Longbow/Double Bow/etc. (Range 3 Bow) at maximum range. If Dual Attack activates, the Sword user will, from Range 4 if further away from the enemy, clobber some face anyway.
...Sadly, the enemy does not use Dual or Double against you. _________________
