It's just for messages, not wall posts and comments. It's actually incredibly useful for things like trying to plan a get-together. _________________

That's just downright screwed up. Those poor kids. Did the idiot shoot his own kid too? _________________

Fick: You know how my sister discovered I was an ex-Muslim? Well, ever since then, she's been shoving down her beliefs down my throat and trying to convert me back via text message. :/ I texted her that our cousin was scared of 2012 and she said "He clearly has no faith in Allah, just like you." I asked her some biology questions since she's a biology-major and instead of helping me, she's simply like "Allah SWR made it that way." Really. When I was a muslim, she wouldn't bring religion up very much, but now she's just being obnoxious and disrespectful. I told her about the shooting in Connecticut and she says "May Allah help those families and you." Is she trying to say I'm a victim? >_>
If I hear a mention of God/Allah/etc one more time, I'm gonna punch a kitten. _________________ Icon via iconography. |

Fick: I downloaded the Mass Effect 2 demo, then immediately downloaded the demo for ME3 after I finished it. I've never touched an ME game before, but damn, I enjoyed these demos. ME people, is it worth it for me to throw down the money for the trilogy? It's only like 60 bucks. _________________

She's trying to get into med school. I know plenty of people who insist religion and biology are interconnected. (I live in the South.)
I understand why she is upset because she genuinely believes I'll be in Hell for all eternity, but she doesn't have to shove her beliefs down every two seconds. All it does is drive me further away from the faith and make me even more skeptical. _________________ Icon via iconography. |

If you're upset that your relative doesn't follow your religion and so you think they'll be going to hell, you don't start popping it in everywhere as a snarky retort without actually having a proper discussion. It's making no serious effort to actually reconvert you and in this form is just incredibly disrespectful, callous and worst of all spiteful. That sort of message isn't trying to be constructive in any way, and is clearly just being done because she's angry at you personally. I realize you'd want to think that it's just her being upset that you've "decided to go to hell" and she doesn't want you to, but this sort of reaction is the complete opposite of how one should react given this sort of belief system and is closer to someone having a bitchfit after being "personally offended".
"May Allah help those families and you."
This is frankly disgusting. What a complete and utter lack of actual sympathy towards the victims.
I think the current best course of action is, when appropriate, to reply with a simple note of "please don't be rude" or something, and doing it consistently so it actually sticks. Dry replies criticizing her/Islam will probably only aggravate it and give an impression of haughtiness. If and when the comments calm down it might be an idea to initiate a proper discussion if she's willing, unless you don't want the chance that she'll explode back into this. _________________
