Given how bad Namco is at pciking a console, it's simply a question of "when". _________________

The real meat of this discussion will be what kind of titles (mothership, port, or remake) that the Wii U will see and how they'll make use of the Game Pad. Battle-wise, I doubt we're going to see much use on the Game Pad except for shortcuts. I can see plenty of usage outside of battle though: having the layout of the town/dungeon/field, better navigation of the menus, various puzzle-solving mechanics, or simply being able to play on the Pad itself.
Well, this stuff's basic at this point but I'm sure they'll come up with something creative. I want to say Motherships and Remakes are more likely given the nature of the Wii U but I'm sure Namco will go against the grain as usual and port their **** like they always do.

Remember how long it took to jailbreak the wii? Like 4 months, and this time they have practice. | Fanboyism didn't have anything to do with hacking. The Wii was simply easier to hack and has more tangible benefits (outside of piracy) than the other consoles. The PS3 on the other hand, has exceptional security (backed up by more serious software/firmware updates). Also, you forget that the 3DS has yet to be hacked. Right now, people can play their DS carts but cannot emulate 3DS games. The Wii U's built-in Wii hardware is exploitable in the same manner, naturally. But no real progress has been made into the actual hardware of the 3DS or Wii U itself. |
Well the handhelds are harder since you cant simply plug into it via a usb and try to hack it. Also hacks will be insanely easy on the wiiu. All you need is a program on an external hard drive. Also the 3ds has encrypted games. They need the key from nintendo, which they don't have. Kind of hard without it. There is someone working on a 3ds emulator however. _________________ Did all the games that weren't on YouTube in full playthroughs! At one point, they also said that DS would be the main platform for the series. We saw how that turned out. Then again, Tales are doing a lot better on PS3 than they did on DS.
BUT, it is worth mentioning: Vesperia 360. It was started after Abyss, and it was developed for 360 (instead of Wii or PS3) because its development kit was the only "next gen" dev kit when development started.
I can see Namco sticking to PS3 for another game, but I do think we're going to see something on WiiU sooner than later. Namco is likely eager to embrace the new console generation (new consoles mean easy opportunities for new fans, especially while the console's library is still small), so I can see them doing a WiiU title soon.
As for what they do?
I'm hoping it's Symphonia Remake. That game is coming eventually (OVA just ended, 10 year anniversary in Japan next year, most popular worldwide, etc.), and I don't want to miss out on it in English. I still don't know exactly how involved Nintendo was in the GameCube version's translation, but I get the feeling their involvement was the reason we didn't get the PS2 version. I don't want to run the risk of the remake to be made for PS3 but then Nintendo prevents it coming over again.
So, if they're going to inevitably make a WiiU title anyway, why not make it SymphoniaR, a title that MIGHT HAVE to be on WiiU if we want it to be localized. It would be best if Japan would just make it simultaneous WiiU/PS3 and then not localize the PS3 version if Nintendo is an issue. I really hope that is the case, so that Japan doesn't ***** about it not being on PS3 and then get a PS3 version a year later with added content that we will never get (Vesperia PS3 all over again).
ALSO, SymphoniaR would be a BIG chance for the series to become popular here. People remember Symphonia, and I can see Nintendo marketing it! It would also give Nintendo a good reason to put Lloyd in SSB4, what with Namco helping develop it anyway. ; ) |
The game already has like 7 swordsman, we don't need more. I'd rather have klonoa or something. _________________ Did all the games that weren't on YouTube in full playthroughs! There's silly translated voice acting, commentary, side bars, all in HD

Konkani (Lloyd's seiyuu) asked Yoshizumi about a plausible Symphonia remake on Wii U and Yoshizumi acted like they hadn't even considered the Wii U for it.
I can't see Namco releasing a WiiU game any time soon. Graces came out in 2009, three years after the Wii's initial launch. _________________ Icon via iconography. |

Or maybe they are playing coy? Idk, I wouldn't read too much into that.
I can hope. ;__; _________________

I doubt it since Yoshizumi explicity said they remaking it on PSP and it wasn't possible. He also mentioned the 3DS, Vita, and PS3.
Many Japanese fans have expressed they would like to see TOS remade on the PS3. Baba stated many times they first cater to the Japanese audience before us. _________________ Icon via iconography. |

Fair enough. I still think it would be a good fit for WiiU, as aforementioned, but PS3 would be fine too as long as we get it. _________________

I'm inclined to agree with Flamfas, for all the points he mentioned. I would LOVE ToSR on WiiU. Guys. Wii U. It's amazing. The gamepad has so much potential and does not feel anywhere near as gimmicky as the motion controls on the Wii. It's very much like playing DS games. I love it! I think a Tales game has SO MUCH potential on Wii U if they utilized the game pad as more of a mini game element (though, the DS titles didn't really utilize the touch screen besides for menus).
But I would still prefer the Tales games to remain on PS3 if only to keep it more consistent and ...region free. I'd love Tales Wii U if they were localized. :/ I'm not really big on hacking. _________________

It's cool, if it ever comes to hacking, I'll make a detailed guide when it gets released. You'll bet your butt I'll be playing Tales WiiU one way or another. _________________ Did all the games that weren't on YouTube in full playthroughs! No matter how easy hacking apparently is on Nintendo consoles, I'd prefer being able to play my games without having to touch the console.
A WiiU/PS3 simultaneous release would be grand. _________________

That's what I'm hoping for, seriously.
The next Tales should not only come out on both Wii U and PS3, but also in Japan, North America and Europe at the same time. I mean, come on, they haven't done a simultaneous release since Vesperia. What happened to that tactic? |

Yeah, I actually bought a Japanese PS2 back in the day for Tales imports. Messing with the system is a pain in the ass, it's why I'm so happy Rebirth and Destiny 2 are on PSP and I have ToDR:way better story and characters edition on DS. Hooking up my Japanese PS2 when I want to play something was a huge pain in the ass, and now it just gathers dust. So I kinda regret doing it and wouldn't have if I knew about the PSP ports and Hearts back then.
But there's no way I'm importing a Japanese WiiU (or 3DS, for that matter.) Really just want Namco to stick to PS3. |

Namco will release a WiiU Tales game just so they can **** with you and re-release a vastly improved version on the PS3 three months later, once again ending any chance of another Tales game ever growing a consistent fanbase on non-Sony console. _________________

Funny how you say this. I always felt like Tales would do better if it was released on Nintendo's systems exclusively. Tales feels like a Nintendo series. Honestly Tales might sell badly simply because Sony fanboys are all CODDDDDDDDD these days. They probably just don't care. _________________ Did all the games that weren't on YouTube in full playthroughs! There's silly translated voice acting, commentary, side bars, all in HD
