I may be picking up a 3DS tomorrow. After scratching two DS screens because of Ouendan's awful spinners, I want to make sure that I don't damage my new ~$150 gadget. However there are so many third party brands offering these ****, and user reviews for third party accessories are NEVER helpful and I keep coming across ones that are apparently bad.

Give it to me straight, docs.

Not good at caring for your 3ds huh. I bought a small accessory set with extra styluses and 2 sets of protectors, does it really matter what kind of product it is if it does it's job? I found them a pain to attach properly since I'm stuck with the small 3DS.

I have a Hori on my 3DS, but I hope you're buying an XL. I just got an iPad screen protector and asked the person to cut/apply it for me. He also helped me apply the protector to my dad's phone and GPS, all that for $10. Bleh, I absolutely hate applying these things myself since there's always a spec of dust here and there, despite my vigorous wiping. Even the Hori fool-proof application was a hassle for me.

Uh, no? Literally the only damage I've ever done to a handheld involves Ouendan's spinners, but those scratches bothered me to no end (I think on the second one they even caused the touchscreen to get misaligned.) I replaced the first DS because I had an overpriced EB Games warranty and figured "well it's almost expired and these scratches suck, may as well get a brand new DS for free...Oh **** the same thing happened with the new one, but worse."

The point is that I'm slightly paranoid about it now.

LOL, do you give them $3 to protect your game for a year?

I have never used protectors ever

I have played many whacky touch screen games and never damaged the screen

3ds touch screen usage is incredibly sparse and tame you don't need it lol

I know, but like I said, paranoia.

Oh, and I've confirmed that I am indeed going to be getting a 3DS (20 dollars off and a 30 dollar gift certificate at Best Buy, plus Reward Zone points, hell yes.)

Which is perfect because I had just gotten the scratch together to order Code of Princess before the first press goes extinct, so I'll have something to play (Kid Icarus and/or Shantae 2 are next.)

PS: It amuses me that Shantae 3 is gonna be on the 3DS.

I did when I had my first 360 that randomly scratched up my discs (no I never tilted it, the drive was faulty.)

Eventually I discovered a local pawn shop that lets you use their disc resurfacer for $2 a pop, so I could just use that on a case by case basis.

The Hori ones are generally considered to be the best.

I recommend a trained attack dog. Anyone comes near that screen, BAM they're taken down by your attack dog.

Unless if you're really itching to use your reward points, Sears had 3DSs for $99 when they were clearing their electronics department a few months ago. I was tempted to get a red small one to compliment my red XL, but I got a slim 360 for the same price.

And it's not paranoia. You should get a protector for your 3DS. At the very least, the top screen because you will get scratches from the bottom bezel.
