Can someone ask Rich if they're going to do that? Because phpBB is already on its 3rd iteration, and I'm pretty sure we haven't updated since 2004 _________________

It's good to know the forums will be back, but hopefully the influx of bot posts is taken care of quickly. Another forum I frequent is having basically the exact same problem, lots of topics everywhere. :T _________________

I get the lurking feeling this wasn't actually an update. They just called it that so we wouldn't know it crashed.
Anyway, if you haven't already seen, please read my stickied topic at the top of this forum, everyone. _________________ Gaming in 2013:

This was Tweeted around 4 hours ago at the time I'm posting, so I guess this should be a good thing?
To be perfectly honest, I'm really disappointed at how the US branch deals with the Tales community. Why can't they just give us a single person as the community manager for Tales or even RPGs in general, like the EU branch has with Hollie? At least working on a single fandom or so would give them more time to concentrate on that alone. I would even say that the recent growth in the Tales EU community Baba-san mentioned before could be attributed to all the promotion Hollie and their branch have been doing. All those events and contests they had were because she actually proposed and petitioned for those in their office.
Sorry for the long rant. But I just really wish they'd show more effort for the US branch. _________________

I do wish we had someone more dedicated to RPGs, like Hollie, but hey, Europe's gains are good for us too. European releases means the game will at least be able to be imported in English. (':
And yeah, between that tweet and both of us tweeting Rich the link to my thread about the state of the forums, I think they will be able to understand the problem.
Whether or not they have a recent enough backup or not, is another question. I can't imagine them not, but hey, anything is possible at this point. _________________ Gaming in 2013:

I love this post so much.

This is definitely seeming more and more likely. Even putting aside not checking to make sure they got it all set-up properly, and then not thoroughly checking to make sure it got set-up properly after people reported it... you'd kind of think they would have notified us about a downtime in advance.
I guess the intern just unplugged the server again. Whoops. _________________

Oh, they moved the location of the forums, by the way. I had to change my hosts file to be able to get access to the forums again. Used to be at 8.17.170.90 (?) and now it's at 216.174.107.110. In other words, this wasn't just a "oops I accidentally the database"; there was some intentional action.
However considering this is the case I find it very odd that the forum is changed at all. Normally you would just physically move the server and connect it elsewhere, and the backup goes along with it. From the way it seems, they just took the backup instead of the actual server with the forums on it, which I find incredibly weird. This is just my speculation, though.
EDIT: Actually, the old IP wasn't even the same as Namco US' current address. They just moved it to the current location.
EDIT: Sent an email to the apparent sysadmin. _________________
