just so you guys know... i already had this CS typed up for a separate RP, and i was to lazy to change it to Martel's format... Kourtney does not carry weapons.

Name: Kourtney Neurranza

Age: 17

Race: mahouni

Appearance: Kourtney is not the best looking girl out there, nor is she the worst. She has straight brown hair that reaches just past her shoulders that she usually keeps in a ponytail. Her beautiful Hazel eyes bring out her freckles and make her expressions easy to read. She has an athletic build and proportional figure. She prefers simple, comfortable clothing to flashy dress clothes and does not use makeup. On her back is an intricate, detailed tattoo of what appears to be multitudes of integrated circles, triangles, and other geometric shapes. The tattoo covers more than half of her back. She does not remember how or why she obtained the tattoo.

Personality: Shy and self-conscious, Kourtney tends to avoid conversation if she can help it. If someone does get her in conversation, they usually find her very evasive and nervous. To those she opens up to, however, she is often lively and fun loving, though she remains timid and soft spoken. She has a passion for the outdoors and loves to see new places and ideas. She has a curious nature and is especially interested in the sciences behind magic, though she does not understand much yet. She is especially interested in runes due to the one tattooed on her back.

Abilities: The rune on kourtney’s back grants her the ability to reach into the very molecules of an object, allowing her to walk through walls, fall through floors, and pass through various other objects and obstacles that she otherwise couldn’t. She also knows how to draw a few simplistic runes such as “Grow,” “Light,” and “Hide.”

Saimon@: Okay, everything else seems fine. And yes, I do approve of the Mahouni idea. =3

But the only questions I have now are now is her bio/history (what exactly is her main history or a basic idea of where she came from and how she came to be the way she is today). Since techically can also use magic, she would automatically be able to use mana cards since all Mahounis have those.

she wasn't raised as a mahouni (so no cards) and has no memory of her past... so i left that area out of her prof... now i just need to get a good idea of where the chars are so i can do some posting ^_^

Oh I see, but you could add that she's an amensiac or something. XD

And okay, no mana cards, but that means she won't be able to use magic until she gets some mana cards since Mahouni focus their magic through their cards. (if you get my point) =P

Unless she can find some other way of using magic without cards but I can't think of one. She can't just summon magic from her hands sadly, but then again, Dwarves and Raibai can't exactly use magic properly without focusing it through a weapon themsleves.

the rune is not something she drew... someone else gave it to her... and she often times can't control it's firing... she's found herself under her bed after waking up from sleeping before kind of thing... and i was under the impression that the mana-cards were spells, not mana-focusing tools... i thought the mana itself came from her own internal magical network to cause the runes to fire...

Well, yeah, that's true in some of the magic races case, but in the case of the Mahouni, they still need mana cards to cast their spells for Mahouni's case at least. When a symbol is drawn on the cards it can be used a spell. Think of it kinda like how Sheena uses her cards. ^^;

You can see the posts with Ri-Behn and Rune using the cards to get a better example of what I mean.

But yeah, Mahouni can't just use magic from their hands, that kind of ability belongs to Fae and Elves (especially Elves since they're the longest living races, followed by the Drakonites)

The said rune on her body you mentioned though could be used as an amplifying of sorts maybe, combining the mana cards with the rune symbol on her body could make the spell stronger or something. Just throwing ideas out.

alright... i guess my last question is would she still be capable of using the rune without having one of the cards?... the other ones don't really matter, but the one on her back is important to her character.

The rune could be used an amplifier perhaps? Something that could increase the damage of the spell dependent on the card that is used. That's the only thing I can think of that could allow the rune be in use.

Or you could make the rune itself as the spell but that would kinda be like making her self-destruct. ^^;

I don't mind if you want to give mana cards to your character, every Mahouni has those to begin with. I mean look at Kia. XD

I honestly can't see how the rune could work if it's related to her being a Mahouni. Not unless you can come up with an idea. ^_^

the rune itself is the spell... it's a phasing rune, giving the object it activates on, in this case Kourtney, the ability to pass through solid objects... i g2g for a small amount of time... i'll explain more when i get back

Okay, maybe if I understand what the rune is, then maybe we can probably find some loophole or something.

It sounds a little bit like a psychic ability that you would see in X-men. (Hey, how about that? Make it an psychic ability and not a magic ability? =3) That way, we can get around the fact that she doesn't have mana cards with her. And hey, if we have someone like Pas, someone like Kourtney would be considered a psychic with an ability like the one you're mentioning.

no offense, but i don't really like the idea of it not being magic... how about it draws the mana from the world around it, rather than from Kourtney herself... the only way the psychicness could work is if she does it subconsciously to activate it, but the rune itself is still magic... that make sense?... could it work?

Oh I see, well that threw the idea out the window. Don't worry, none taken, it was just an possible idea after all. ^^

Drawing it from the world's mana is not that different to how most magic is cast, but in this case, I think we can make an exception. Besides, it's probably not something that will be used often so it can't do enough harm to Elyansia in the times that she uses it.

Also, maybe once we see it in action, it might make more sense than the whole explaining of it. XD

Even now, I'm still trying to grasp just what exactly this rune is about. ^^
