A random start is always doable. But where'll it go from there? What's the antagonistic force, what's the protagonists' ultimate goal? Let's start to flesh this out. Do you have anything to add, Ruin? Also, what are some themes you have in mind for the game? besides the "past is past" one.

I've been working on Cerridwen's special attacks, I'll get them up sometime today.

Well, I already have the basic idea for the first major antagonist, the group who created the Homonculi are also antagonists(something I just thought of, Morse's adoptive father was a member of this group). I also want there to be a part where the party is accused of being villains, not by an antagonist, but by NPCs.
The ultimate goal of the party has not quite been planned out.
Some other themes are "enjoy today, you don't know what may happen tomorrow" and "look back to the past, live for today and look forward to the future".

Okay, guys. I've got some supporting characters and our first major villain. Also, don't be afraid to think of supporting characters for the people you thought of, like, maybe Maia has....a husband and child or something.
Anyway, on with the show.

Artem Ashford
Age: 15
Gender: Female
Race: 1/2 Demon, 1/4 Human, 1/4 Faerie
Personality: She's very hot-blooded and feisty, the first person to snark at someone, she has a foul mouth, tends to over-react and really cares about her brother.
Role: Alistair's younger sister. She plays less of role than the other people I'm posting, but her presence is still there. She starts out being the person who wakes you up(with cursing and kicking). She doesn't do much after that but then you learn that she has been training to be the protector of Hoshien while Alistair is gone. She has the most Quests of any NPC in the game and even a whole sidequest dedicated to her.

Athena Ashford
Age: 42(looks very good for her age)
Gender: Female
Race: 1/2 Human, 1/2 Faerie
Personality: Athena, being a mother, is very caring and kind towards the party. She's somewhat space-y and very random. She can remain calm in just about any situation(the ones she can't are hilariously minor, like the tea is cold). Also, if you try to harm her children or their friends, your life ends, painfully.
Role: She plays a large emotional role for Alistair, he still cares about his mother very much, heck, he takes time out of his journey(which has a purpose at this point) to visit her. When some form of antagonistic force comes to kill her, she calmly offers them tea and treats the situation like they were picking on the party, she then, kicks their asses(she's a master mage). When something important and bad happens, she rushes to Hoshien to protect it and her daughter.

Jessica Reinhart
Age: 29
Gender: Female
Race: Human
Personality: Jessica, intially, is very depressive and melancholic. She laments about what has done in the past and wishes it could all be undone. When she meets Vulcan, however, her personality takes a turn for the brighter. Learning that he and other Homonculi escaped and many are living happily, she starts to become happier(but still rather forlorn) and more open to the party's wishes.
Role: Jessica was a member of the group that created the Homonculi, she tried to leave the group when the experiments created sentient life, but were discarded and killed. They forced her keep making Homonculi, though. When the experiments became more fruitful(when Vulcan was created) she left once and for all. During her time away, she became bitter and self-hating. The party learns of a master sciantist who lives in a close-by town, so they go to her. Jessica refuses, stating her hands can create only death and tells the party to leave. Shortly after, they meet Vulcan, convinces the party to try again. This time, she expresses interest in Vulcan, requesting to see under his bandages. Upon learning of his being a Homonculus and that other Homonculi are living peacefully, she starts to aid the party in their exploits, giving scientific support.

Now, our villain.

Railia Metatronus
Age: 20
Gender: Female
Race: 1/2 Angel, 1/2 Human
Personality: Railia has a....odd personality. She comments on something's beauty and then immediately comments on how it could kill them or how it could be killed. She intially seems kind, if not quirky, and noble, but then she goes full-on villain and crazys it up.
Role: She is the Popess(female Pope) of the Yahowesha Church. It is her duty to rule over all the other Church peoples and her true duty is to "become the vessel of the Goddess", which she thinks will save the world from...whatever the problem is(Mana...Overload), but it'll really just **** things up more. When the party tries to stop her, she genuinely believes that her once-allies have betrayed her(including her lifelong friend, Neara). Once she does "become the Vessel", she goes crazy and orders the party's execution. They escape and find her at the top of the Cathedral, where she attempts to wholly "bring forth salvation". Boss Fight, she sort of almost succeeds, causing a large influx of mana. In her last moments, she regains sanity and Neara comforts her. She tells Neara that everything she was taught was a lie and asks her to succeed her as the Popess and fix everything she has done. She then dies.

So?

Okay, so I thought of the driving force behind the party's actions.

Mana Overload
When an area becomes too fraught with mana, the flora becomes overgrown and the fauna become mutated and violent. The area becomes inhospitable and it threatens the entire world. Railia's actions cause more mana to appear, sending more places into Mana Overload.

And one minor thing, the Demon-blooded characters are rather malicious in battle, but only in battle, when they know they've won, they just switch back to their normal selves. So, Archer, if you're thinking of original spells, be sure to make the incantation scary.

I've been wondering about the demon-blood part. I'm suppose to come up with special attacks that match the heritage, right? Where do I start?

They don't necessarily have to match the heritage, just go with what fits them best.

SUPER ULTRA IMPORTANT MESSAGE!
I will be taking a long hiatus from any and all fan projects. For the next couple of months, I will not even enter the Fan Works thread. I leave you all with a major plot point in Days.

Alistair's Corruption
During several points in the plot, Alistair succumbs to darkness and goes insane, fights the party and is snapped out of it. During the first few times(there is 5 overall), it is treated as a minor annoyance by party and even Alistair himself. The fourth time he does not fight the party, because Aurore beats him over the head rigorously with a book and snaps him out before any damage is done. The fifth and final time(which happens shortly after the fourth) happens at an important time and messes up the party's plans. Alistair escapes to go destroy stuff before the party can fight him and you have to track him down. Once he is found, boss battle ensues. After the boss battle, Aurore stabs Alistair in the heart(getting impaled in the process) and you're treated to a flashback/dream sequence/crazy drug trip that shows how Alistair and Aurore met, followed by a recreation of the first scene of the game and then a crazy nightmare and then Alistair and Aurore as children holding hands on the beach. You then see Alistair walking through utter darkness. He finds a shadow version of himself, they do battle and Alistair wins. Having conquered himself, Alistair awakens to Aurore being healed and worrys for her safety(his time doing so). After Aurore's all healed up, They share a tender, precious moment.

So yeah. I would really like it if this thread were to keep going in my abscence. I feel without myself looming over everyone, stuff could get done.

And I have one final request, for Gabe and Yumiko: should anything major happen in these threads, inform me through a PM, I'm not setting foot in the Fan Works section but would still like to know what's going on.

So, now, bid you all a fond adieu.

He's never gonna read it, is he?
Sorry for feeling like writing this.

So, I've been thinking about this project a lot.
I've decided on something, I'm gonna rework most of it.
I figured I'm take out the Dwarves and the Angels. They didn't really do much in the original plot I had thought of. So the characters that are part-dwarf/part-angel will be reworked.
I'm also gonna think of actual terminology for the existing races and other such things.
I'm also making a few changes to my characters. Mostly small stuff.
I figured I might as well put a little more emphasis on the races and the church/order/whatever. Not to much, though.
The plot will remain the same yet different.

So yeah. Maybe mess around with your guys' character a little. I dunno, your call.
