I have seen tons of theards on this so I am making a guide on this.
This thread is about wepaons that change during battles and why your weapon changed.
Here is why your weapons change: You have a outfit title on that character.
Here is the list:
Lloyd:
formal=Candles?
Colette:
Beach=frisbee?
Genis:
formal=Easter egg on Kendama?
Kratos:
Judgment=Angel feather?
Raine:
formal=Book?
Sheena:
Successor=Fancy cards
Zelos:
formal=Bouquet
Preasea:
formal=Bunny
Regal:
Cook=Pans?
This Will be updated as I find out more.

| I've been playing with only the costume titles for the whole game now, partly to test this, and partly because costume titles are cooler. I can only confirm sheena's so far. It was in the successor costume. It's a normal card, but half of it is green and the other half is red with a big white circle in the middle. I'll keep and eye out for the others. |

Except you can't get his costumes in the beginning. You can get Kratos back on the second disk, in exchange for Zelos.
