Toph can be the new Bumi

YES. I command that this be so.

Just no. I want new characters, not old characters for the sake of having them.

I only want allusions to them. Not actually seeing them. Kinda like how AAI handled discussion about Phoenix Wright.

Chances are if Metalbending hasn't spread in the past few years, Toph will be around for the sole reason of teaching it to Korra. I imagine it would be a great asset when taking down THE MAN in Republic City, what with its steampunk goodness.

Good lawd why do I get Samurai Jack vibes from this.

But Korra already know Earthbending, which, in turn, means she knows Metalbending which is merely a variation of Earthbending.

But remember in the Desert? Toph knowing earthbending didn't exactly help her with sandbending. It's a variation that takes as much work and practice as the main art.

And metalbending doesn't exactly look like it works the same way as earthbending at all. When Toph bends metal, it's more like she physically has to grab it and move it herself. There's no martial art involved at all. They just all seem like very different ways of working the element - there's a reason Toph was the first.

I agree with Medomai. Metalbending would probably be ridiculously hard, if not impossible, for any earthbender that doesn't have Toph's condition. Not only that, but Aang is the only one of Korra's past lives that even had the chance to learn it (I can't remember if he learned how during the show, but I'm assuming that at one point in his life Toph taught him how to do it). The Avatars before him had never even considered the possibility of bending metal. As the Avatar, Korra has very little past memories to draw from if she wanted to metalbend as easily and skillfully as she can bend the other elements. If Korra has the ability to bend metal, it would most likely be very difficult for her.

However, I also think that it would be better if the previous characters were only alluded to in Korra's timeline, rather than shoehorned in for fanservice.

Well, meh to you people. I think it would be nice to have a previous character appear, I don't mean she would have to be all "RAWR, Old Lady Toph! Earthbending! Metalbending! Here, have some Metalbending! RAAAWR!" She could just have an appearance here and there. But you know who should appear? Cabbage Merchant's Grandson.

This

For appearances, it's certain that Aang will make one. Zuko will almost definitely get a mention as well, considering he is either the present or previous Fire Lord at this point. I could see Katara and Sokka easily getting at least mentions, considering they would most likely be heroes of the Water tribe (surely Korra would look up to them in some manner?). Toph is really the only one in the air, but again I'd be surprised if Metalbending didn't make some appearance.

My main question at this point is whether or not Tenzin(?) is the last airbender or not. I can't imagine the numbers of them exploding over the years unless Aang did some extra.... bending. *SHOT*

It's been 70 years since the end of The Last Airbender. Aang has at least one airbender child, Tenzin. It's always possible he had more than one child. And Tenzin would have children too. And in 70 years, it's possible Aang would have grandchildren, possibly even great grandchildren. Airbenders will still have a relatively small population, but they still may have grown in numbers quite a bit since The Last Airbender.

Just finished watching the show over again over the past month or 2 (month before SHAMALAMALAME's flick came out).

I went to check if The Track Team would be returning to do the musical score, and found out that Legend of Korra is unofficially a 12 episode miniseries.

Was this already known or...? Rolling Eyes. Hopefully it turns out well compacted, seeing as how its essentially half a book from The Last Airbender.

):

That's sad. I was hoping for a full season or two. Maybe if it does well, they'll either extend it or do another time jump.

This is VERY disappoint. I hate them now....but I still love them. Still hoping for Steven Blum.
