And, no, I'm not Distressed Atheist. I can't stand that guy, and I'm apparently Nitpicker #1 in the Tales / My-HiME community. I think I totally lost it in his Signs review. I wholeheartedly agreed with his one "Nothing is a coincidence" complaint and also felt the whole final alien scene was ridiculous and contrived, but I didn't care at that point because he wasted so much time whining about how the movie was TOTALLY RUINED simply because the opening titles weren't fancy enough and how Mel Gibson can't mop up dog pee or some stupid crap like that.

I'm very love/hate about Doug and his friends. The Star Wars special was a good review, though.

Doesn't everybody find themselves annoying? I do. Goddamn I wish I'd shut up.
Also, that's just kinda how the lists go isn't. Nitpick about the minor stuff, then get to the big ones. And I liked that list ... everyone in that movie WAS so depressing.
... oh well, i more preferred his Transformers 2 list. (even though he kept goin on random tangents during each point(but then again, he ALWAYS does)).

So Kickassia has finally ended with... disputable levels of actual kickass.
But, hey, at least Spoony is reviewing the worst sci-fi movie that never existed to make up for it!

On the other hand, they are trying to tell a consistent story to some extent, and there are probably dozens of more efficient ways to show why a country run entirely by internet reviewers would never work, so sending everything into a grinding halt with the Santa Christ stuff really does kill things a bit.
To be honest, though, my initial reaction to all of this basically amounted to "Ugh, who gives a ****? Give me more bad movie reviews" when trailer first premiered, and I genuinely got more entertainment than I was expecting out of it (if only in pure comedic value). All in all, I don't hate Kickassia by any means, but I see a lot of room for improvement. |
