| Dr.B wrote: | I also have my contacts and I have some novel spoilers, from someone who bought and read the novel. So here is the information I have:
-NOVEL SPOILERS-
The novel is mainly about Alice, but since Decus was so important in her life he is almost as much as Alice in the novel.
In the time line, the novel is divided in two parts: The time they spent in the orphanage, how they became friends, and all that happened to them there; and the five years they spent travelling together.
The plot talks basically about two things: How Alice and Decus became who they were, and their relationship during their childhood and adolescence.
About Dekuari (AlicexDecus): The novel talks about their complicated feelings for each other over that time (adolescence). And it hints that Alice felt in love with Decus, but that she had problems to deal with those feelings, mainly because she had fear to be betrayed by him because he was a human, something that didn't stop her to spend all her life with him. |
Interesting that the novel goes into the time Alice and Decus spent in the Hima Orphanage and the time they spent traveling together in two sections. I am especially eager to read the section that covers the time they traveled together. While the game stated that they traveled together, it did not go into any detail about what happened to them during that time.
Alice did tell Decus that she did not entirely trust him in her side-quest, so I am not surprised that the novel hints that she loved him but had difficulty dealing with her feelings because she feared he would betray her.
| Dr.B wrote: | | So yeah, the novel has romantic hints about Alice's feelings for Decus. Something that from my PoV was somehow unavoidable after having spend all that time together |
Not only that, but they were both outsiders who only had each other in the years they spent being mistreated. The world may have rejected them, but they were always there to provide each other with friendship and support. Therefore, it makes sense that they would fall in love.

That is a good observation. They might just be in reference to Alice's cuteness, but they could have also been drawn to show the love Alice and Decus have for each other. _________________ Do you want to be my pet? <3 |

Not in two sections literally, what I meant is that the novel talks about their childhood in Hima and their adolescence while they traveled.

And is not an stupid fear, because is true that anyone but yourself can betray you. But that fear wasn't strong enough to make her leave him. She preefered to have fear and live with him, than have no fear and live without him. Is not that she didn't trust him, she obviously trusted him, it was more a "what if..."

Even if the one who gave me the information said the word "love" I think that he meant that it hints that Alice had romantic feelings for him but that she didn't really know that it was love... Wait... That's fall in love too. I guess his deffinition was right.
Oh and it doesn't matter if you put your text in blue, because as long as you quote my spoiler, everyone can read it. But it doesn't matter, if someone has read this far I'm sure that he/she wanted to be spoiled. _________________ DecusxAlice: The sado Pairing FanClub |

I would say that indicates she did not trust him one hundred percent if she thought there was a chance he would betray her. I think she mostly trusted him (she would not have fallen asleep next to him in Flanoir, had him fight beside her, and allowed him to hang around her if she did not), but a part of her was still distrustful of his loyalty to her.
Her fear was not dumb. The only one you can fully trust is yourself. Even if someone pledges devotion to you, he or she could still betray you in the future. Decus would not have done that to Alice, but she was right to fear there was a chance he would betray her.

Why anyone who does not want to be spoiled would go into this thread is beyond me. Since it is about a novel covering Alice and Decus' pasts, it is bound to have spoilers. _________________ Do you want to be my pet? <3 |

I love the sleep scene in the ice temple with the iron-maiden between them, to keep them separated. And mybe the best scene to show that she trusted him, since no one will fall asleep, letting the ward down, with someone who doesn't trust.
I like Alice's look in her eyes when Decus died before her (this awesome pic is not mine):
Is like she couldn't believe that Decus really meant all he said, and died for her. And the way she said "I love you too" sounds kinda like she hated herself for not believeing him.
Now let's hope that Mewzy comes with more news.
P.S to Tomoko: I sent you an e-mail to the direction you gave here as yours.(In case you don't check that account because you only use it for this forum.) _________________ DecusxAlice: The sado Pairing FanClub |

I think you guys are putting waaaay too much thought into a semi-official fanfic with questionable canon relevance.
But at least Alice's bloomers will always be canon. _________________ SOON.

So... You have just come here to tell the people who actually like Alice and Decus not to be happy, because they have official matherial? My, you must be bored. But since you have made an effort to post here I wouldn't seem to be as polite as you if I didn't reply.
| Quote: | | I think you guys are putting waaaay too much thought into a semi-official fanfic with questionable canon relevance. |
And I think that you dislike Alice and that's why you try to annoy us. Because Alice and Decus have an official novel. And you actually don't like the idea. You even called it semi official fanfic instead of semi official novel just to devaluate it.
Ofcourse is not canon. Canon is only what happens in the game. But is still official. And as much as you don't like the idea it won't change anything, it still will be an official novel. Meaning that NAMCO gave their approval to be published. And that all what happened in the novel, is not canon, but official. What talking in your lenguage must mean that it is semi-canon.
Oh, sorry. Where are my manners... I like how you try to be polite while you try to annoy people. Is a good strategy. Because you change the foms keeping the meaning what makes you look good while you do it. Keep doing it, is a good strategy that I would never use.
P.S: Alice, her bloomers and Decus have an official novel. _________________ DecusxAlice: The sado Pairing FanClub |

Why would I dislike Alice, anyway? I haven't played DotNW. _________________ SOON.

Good justification. Indisputable.
And you have my apologies. Since you told your opinion about me, I thought that you wanted to read mine about you.
And since you obviously don't dislike Alice because you haven't played the game. Was your intention just to say that you didn't like to see us happy and that we shouldn't be? _________________ DecusxAlice: The sado Pairing FanClub |

Still no more info about the Alice/Decus novel from me, sadly. Sorry. I do, however, have more info on the Richter novel, in case anyone's interested.
Richter's father was an elf and his mother a human. They lived in the mountains, which is why Richter grew up to be more 'in tune' with nature. Still, when he was only a little kid, his parents were both killed by "Imperial Knights" (I think they mean Papal Knights), because... well... their kid was a half-elf. _________________ "TEACH ME ABOUT BAZONGAS!!!"

...They killed the parents, but not the half-elf? Their logic gets stupider every time I hear about them. _________________

They use the half-elves for experiments? |

Indeed. Why do you think Richter ended up in the research facility? They probably took him there. _________________ "TEACH ME ABOUT BAZONGAS!!!"

No more info than the one I got? I would have liked to know anything else. Do you think that you will be able to get information about the Alice/Decus novel Meowcy? (Or anyone else)
Don't take me wrong, but this isn't the Richter novel topic. I don't mind you to put a few information about his novel, but I don't want to lose the topic. I preefer the idea of allow it die being the "Decus and Alice novel" topic, than survive becoming something else.
I don't mind if any of you talk about Richter's novel while you don't make this post lose the topic. And if you feel the urge of keep talking about the Richter novel, make other topic.
Wasn't it a Richter and Aster novel anyway? _________________ DecusxAlice: The sado Pairing FanClub |

Yeah, it was a Richter/Aster novel. My friend only got to read the first four pages, where Richter's childhood is elaborated on. I didn't mean to derail the topic. I thought it was relevant because if people are interested in Alice's and Decus' histories, they might like some tidbits about Richter too. I've seen people derail topics in far, far worse ways.
Anyway, the problem is that my friend ordered the Alice/Decus novel through Yahoo!Japan, using a shipping company called Celga. She's saving up all the stuff she buys through Celga (it gets stocked in their warehouse, I think), then having it all sent to her in one big shipment. But because she's such a big doujinshi fanatic, Celga shipments always take forever because she's always waiting on some auction or another to end.
So basically, because she's still waiting for some doujinshi, her Celga shipment can't be sent yet and I don't know when she'll decide to have her stuff (novels included) shipped to her. _________________ "TEACH ME ABOUT BAZONGAS!!!"

I think that there is, or will be a third novel. Does anyone know about who?
I don't mind to change a little the topic a little, as long as Alice/Decus novel is the main topic. We all change the topics, as long as the main topic is the main subjet is fine.
I hope she gets the novel soon. I've been waiting more than one year for them (Decus and Alice) to get some official stuff. I don't mind to wait some more months. Though the sooner she gets it the better. But if you get any new information about the novel i would like you to share it with us. I would like to verify what I already know, and ofcourse know anything new about it. _________________ DecusxAlice: The sado Pairing FanClub |
