If you don't mind Japanese, there's Tales of Hearts on the DS, which, I think, does a good job in "sucking you into its world" as well.
Or if you want in English there's Tales of Vesperia on the Xbox360 and maybe PS3, that's the more recent one.
I don't know about non-Tales games... _________________

Well thers a little problem I still don't understand Japanese (meaby someday i will learn it) and as for consoles
I only got Play Station 2, Nintendo DS Lite, PSP, PC(well that's not a console xD) and I don't have x360 or PS3 so i can't play games on this systems... (If i got, i would love to play Tales of Symphonia 1,2 (GC and Wii) and Tales of Vesperia on X360 or ps3. _________________

Star Ocean 3 is actually not i bad idea but i hope that it wont be like SO2. I played SO 1 and 2 (and in my opinion 1 was better than 2 i even didn't finished SO2) but still i will wait a little longer for your suggestions _________________

I second SO3, and I would add Phantasy Star Portable(PSP), Dawn of Mana, Persona 4, Odin Sphere, Rogue Galaxy, and Final Fantasy X(all PS2) to the current list of suggestions. _________________

This topic is relevant to my interests because I also have a hard on for Action RPGs, preferably ones with multiplayer. _________________ Good Old Blue -- he took the Milky Way. |

Sadly, I'm not really aware of ANY non-Tales multiplayer action RPG titles. I'm sure there are some, but I sure don't know what they are.
I remain annoyed to this very day that there's no real multiplayer in SO3. It's absurd. You can SET characters other than Player 1 to "manual" and there's even a multiplay "duel" mode where you can fight you buddy, but somehow, you can't play co-op with him. It's incredibly sadmaking. |

Baten Kaitos. It's kind of a mix between action and turn-based. Get both games anyway.
Oh, wait, you don't have a Gamecube. You should get one. _________________ You are entitled to your opinion, and I am entitled to call it wrong and steal your name. |

I read about that the other day, but the cast is sort of bad so none of my many friends would want to play it with me. _________________ Good Old Blue -- he took the Milky Way. |

Actually, I'd say the cast is the best part.
The worst is the gameplay. Shining Tears is just shoddily put together - it loads constantly (even mid battle if you use certain skills!) and for very large amounts of time. If you thought Abyss was loady (I didn't) Shining Tears blows it away by comparison.
The graphics are muddy (except for the character portraits), and the actual gameplay options in battle are pretty limited. It feels more like playing Gauntlet than an RPG. |

Tales of the World: Radiant Mythology is a good one for the psp. Also (don't hurt me) but Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII. I actually loved the DMW wheel part of the battle system, and it has the only main character in Final Fantasy (Psx version and later) that I found myself actually caring about. _________________
