I finished Vesperia last night and got me wondering if this is worth the buy. I remember loving Symphonia when it came out in the gamecube era and since i never use my Wii it´d probably be good. What do you guys say¿ _________________

I say:
If you accept that it is essentially a spin-off sequel (and play it as a spin-off sequel), you'll enjoy it.
Basically, play it knowing it's not gonna be SUPER-UBER AMAZING. It's really a game for those who enjoyed the first Symphonia (it has a ton of references to the first game).
Again, it's not the best game in the world, and a lot of stuff could've (and should've) been altered/tweaked, but nevertheless I enjoyed it a lot. Hopefully you will too. :) _________________

I'd say no. I played it knowing it was a spin-off, and still didn't enjoy it. They butchered the characters in my opinion, and the new characters are rather boring, aside from Tenebrae. Tenebrae almost makes it worth going through this game. Almost. _________________

| I LOVED ToS. And when I played the second one I was really not pleased. But it was still fun to see how the characters changed and how the world ended up. I'd say borrow it from a friend or rent it. It's not worth the cash. |

I borrowed it from a friend, and I'm glad I did because I wasn't going to pay $40 for it. It might be a decent buy at $15 - $20 though. _________________

Get it and support the series. It may not be that great of a game, but every copy sold helps. _________________

I have no idea what is wrong with you guys.
Dawn of the new world is amazing.
The characters were actually worth caring for, the battle system was one of the best I've seen in the tales series, I found the graphics to be vibrant and smooth and the storyline was interesting if you look outside the first Symphonia. Though I'll admit,. things could have been added and that would have made it "better", but besides the point; I think you all are crazy for bad mouthing this game. |

I kind of enjoyed it... the old cast was a bit disappointing. >_> *voice actor complaints*
But i did like Emil and Marta. Its not the best in the series but it's not the worst.
The story sucked me in.. xD i dont regret buying it. _________________

Same here. Some parts were quite intense.
And I like Emil, Marta and Tenebrae a lot. _________________

I can vouch that I liked the new characters AND seeing some of my old "buddies" from Symphonia develop. The new ones actually changed a lot from the early game to the late game (later Emil >>>> initial Emil). And they need to keep the writers of the skits in the game for future ones, seriously.
Not the most polished Tales game, but it was nice to play a game with better animation than Abyss. Playing Abyss afterwards was a graphical step down. _________________

I say yes, it's a very good game. Most people just don't like it because its not as "good" as the first one.
DotNW is amazing, and if you like it you might replay it another 1-2 times again. I'm on my 4th playthrough of the game. I love ToS and DotNW. n_n
Also, not to mention the Monster Recruiting option is awesome! |

I say yes, I'm enjoying the game and I don't see much wrong with it, maybe that's just because I'm not a hardcore gamer and don't play games much to point out flaws and only play for the fun of it. =D
Everyone's opinions are different so just try it out and support the Tales series.
The new characters are great and the skits are definitely an upgrade from the first one, THEY SPEAK and it's quite humorous. Tenebrae<3
But the voice actors for the original characters were highly disappointing, especially Lloyd. Gosh, I'm glad he doesn't talk too much. I cringe every time.
The battle system is improvement but I must say the whole monster-catching system was one of the biggest downfalls of the game.
It would of been so much better if they removed that and added more new characters and brought back the old map system and new towns to visit. The new songs are pretty good but I miss fatalize and stuff and the game itself is too short and the new side-quests system suck. >.>
Overall, it's a decent game but it doesn't quite match up to the first one and the idea of making a sequel is to add improvement and make it so much better than the first. I might not replay it over like I did with TOS which was about 7 times, this game may only go up to 3 times. But then again, the characters are just so lovable, how could I say no? <3 _________________ HIATUS;forever?.

Think its pretty late, but I would say ya, it is.
Although, as most of you already know, many things get downgraded from the original. Hi-Ougis now do only 1-5 hits instead of 20 something (although it keeps the same, if not more, amount of damage), and most of the previous character artes have been killed.
Other than that, it has 1 or 2 good plot twists, the new characters were awesome, and its always fun to play a sequel of one of your favorite games _________________ Looking for ToH and Guy Cecil (John Bosch) Voices!

I think with kor, it all depends on the attitude you go in with. If you go in not expecting much and accepting the fact that the original characters will be butchered, it's a fun game. If you go in with high hopes of reliving Symphonia all over again...forget it.
As for me, I really liked it. I liked all the new characters, particularly Emil, Marta, Tenebrae, and Richter. I mostly liked it for Emil's development and his interaction with Richter. The whole "forbidden friendship" thing was really interesting to me. I also really liked Emil's split personality. I'm really big into psychology, so that was really fascinating to me.
Also, Emil is super wuss yat the beginning. The poor boy has no guts. You have to keep that in mind if you play it. There's a good reason for that behavior, but most people can't stand that period enough to stick with it.
So should you get it? That's really up to you. If I were you, I'd watch some playthrough videos and read up on the game before you take the plunge. |
