Ok this has been bothering me for a while.

Do some of you know some girls (straight) who kind of rate other girls' looks?

Okay, so basically let's say we take one of those girls and put her beside a guy. Let's say they both talk about another girl. She thinks she's not pretty and he thinks she is.

Let's say she goes and tells the guy that he has bad taste in women because he disagrees with her about the 'apparently' non-pretty girl.

My question is if straight women really can tell who's pretty and who isn't the same way I guy does? do they see the same thing or close? Because girls like that REALLY annoy me. The ones who seriously think they know what is "pretty" or "not pretty" or "not cute" etc and even go as far as judging a man's view.

They're just jealous *******? There have been a few cases where I've been confused and kind of angry about who my guy friends suddenly chose to date, but it has nothing to do with their looks. It's mostly the fact that said girls are completely under their league and utterly incompatible. and the fact that one of them decided to bring their girlfriend along when we were trying to do our Psychology project and all they did was make out and I had to do all the work no I'm not still angry about that don't be silly

I subconsciously rate people's appearances - everyone does - but I don't think a girl's view on attractive at a basic level (cute, hot, sexy, whatever) and a guy's differ because of their gender alone. My brother always asks me to rate a female he's interested in, and usually our scaling is in sync. But one of his guy friends might jump in and say x girl is totally ugly. It all boils down to personal preference.

Hmm I dunno.. when I see another guy.. (well, unless he has one eye, half of a face, blah blah blah), I really don't think anything. I just see a dude.

Lol I couldn't even begin to tell you if he was hot/sexy/average/plain/cute.

It's my opinion that women, in our society at least, have been taught that they can view the same sex in a subjective manner if they so please. It could also be the case that when women are viewing the same sex, they are basing it simply on what they see at face value, not their friend downstairs, or at least not always.

Also, I'm having trouble believing that you are somehow unable to rate the looks of other men. You certainly don't have to think they are hot/cute/omgsexy, but surely you can distinguish between who is good looking and who is not, right?

The only difference I can find is the gap between fat and muscular, but I can't find much more than though.

Honestly, I find that pretty unbelievable, but whatever. ^.^; I mean, I don't vocalize who I find attractive, but I feel I can judge fairly well for either sex. It's one thing if you don't have standards for attractiveness that mesh with the norm, but I feel like everyone's able to categorize others to some extent.

I almost feel like I judge guys appearances as much as girls because they're competition. I find it hard to believe you can't tell beyond fat or muscular.

I'm pretty sure girls can be more objective about a girls looks because they're (generally) not distracted by sexual attraction.

Also my friends really appreciate it when i tell them my honest opinion about a guy they like or find attractive

I judge guys looks all the time, and I'm even more pushed to do it when I see a guy who has an attractive girlfriend.

I don't come out and say anything about it to anyone, but in my head, I'm judging the looks of almost all the people around, guy or girl. I don't really think it's unusual.
