My trip to Aki Con '08.

Here's a summary of how my trip to Aki Con went.

Thursday: I left Purdy after noon and spent a few hours at my dad's house before heading to the train station. It was right when I was about to leave for the station when I had realized that I had forgot my Judas costume (even though I had the head piece with me). When I left for the train station, I thought of heading back to Purdy to pick up the costume, but realized that there would've been rush hour traffic, so I decided to not pick it up. I got to Everett at around 8:00 and was looking for a phone book, so I could call the hotel and get a shuttle. But then I met a couple of con-goers and decided to walk with them, since it wasn't a far walk to the hotel and that it's not good to walk alone at night. The only problem was, it was raining and one of the bags I was carrying wasn't covered, so I had to carry it against my upper body. I had to walk to walk to the hotel the entire way holding it like that and by the time I got into my room, my body was so physically beat up, that I couldn't sleep that night. I went to bed at 10:30 and four hours later, I still couldn't get to sleep and it worried me, so I called 911 and had some medics come to evaluate me and they said that I didn't have anything threatening and that it was just anxiety.
Friday: I called mom in the morning and talked to her about what happened and she said that my trouble sleeping was just a result of carrying too much weight against my body. Afterwards, I had breakfast and then showed up early for pre-registration and was dead tired at the time, so after getting my badge, I went back to my room and actually managed to get some sleep.
A few hours later, I woke up and had my first panel, which was Did Your Favorite Anime Jump the Shark?. It was my first time hosting it and it was pretty interesting. We talked about a lot of different anime series that we had seen and discussed whether or not they jumped and why (if they did) and it was interesting to hear some of the reasons (and there are some anime series that really took a turn for the worse). I plan to hold it again at future cons, but I'll likely shorten it to a half hour because the discussions went a lot faster than I expected and we almost ran out of anime series to talk about.
A couple hours later, I hosted a panel called Illustrate the Fanfic. It was originally scheduled for Sunday, but it was scheduled at the same time where I had to catch a bus and the schedule in the con program was dated. Because of that, not enough people showed up for it and I ended up canceling the remainder of it. I got some more sleep after that and later in the evening, Vic Mignogna and Chuck Huber (the voice of Shou Tucker in Fullmetal Alchemist) showed up. Attending this con was really a twist of fate because five weeks before the con, I had no intention of attending. I was at animecons.com and was looking at lists of cons that different guests had attended and while I was looking at Vic Mignogna's list, it said that he was planning on attending Aki Con. When I saw that, I thought, "I have to attend this con." Because it was an opportunity to get him to participate in Story Story Die. I had been to a couple of cons earlier in the year that he was at and told him about SSD, but he was too busy. So when I saw that he was attending Aki Con, I went to the site and submitted the Story Story Die idea, telling them that I really wanted Vic to participate in it and they approved it.
After Vic and Chuck showed up, I met them and had Chuck autograph my program. It was the first con I had been to that Chuck was at and he was awesome to meet. My cousin, who's a big fan of Tucker, was also at the con and got to meet him. I also gave Vic a drawing of Edward in a Phillies uniform to commemorate the Phillies winning their first World Series in 28 years, since he's from Pennsylvania, which he appreciated.
One thing that was really cool about seeing Vic that night was when I talked to him for the first time, he actually addressed me first (I couldn't believe what I was hearing when I heard him say "Paladin"), and that was the first time that had ever happened to me with a con guest.
A few hours later, I attended Vic's panel and taped some footage of it.

I'll add more later today.

Saturday: After getting up, I had breakfast. The day before, all I had to eat were a few pieces of fruit for breakfast because it was so hard to eat, due to my physical condition. I still felt that way Saturday morning, even though I was able to eat a little more.
Later in the morning, I attended the Vic Mignogna-Chuck Huber-Ichi-Dan panel and taped some footage. It was cool to hear more about Chuck Huber along with what the cosplay group Ichi-Dan were like. After the panel, I held Story Story Die with the same guests and it freakin' rocked. The guests along with the attendees who participated, had a great time with it, especially Vic and Chuck. They came up with some of the best content, especially in this clip. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tubNAZE_uUc
For months, I had been dreaming of doing this panel with con guests and it finally became a reality and I look forward to doing it with even more guests at future cons.
Later, Vic showed a short film that he wrote and directed called Fullmetal Fantasy, which starred him and other FMA cast members playing out FMA characters, which was very entertaining.
Afterwards, Vic put some of his CDs up for sale and also had some limited-edition copies of a CD he made called Gospel of John, which he was giving away free and was a mesmerizing narration of biblical events.
After that, I hung out with some fellow Risembool Rangers (Vic Mignogna's fanclub) and then had Lunch at Denny's.
Later, I slept for a while and after getting up, I spent some time in the game room and had some ice dream at the hotel restaurant.
Sunday: My physical condition had gotten better and I was no longer distracted by it. In the morning, I spent some time in the dealer room and later, I held Anime Christmas, which had a great turn-out and an even bigger gift and we all had a great time with it.
After Anime Christmas, I saw parts of The Anime Dating Game, which is one of the most brilliant panel ideas ever. It's a panel where people in the audience get asked questions by cosplayers who are looking for a date and they will give some of the funniest answers.
Before I left the con, I did one more panel called The Anime List, which is a discussion topic where we discuss various anime subjects and of the ones that get selected, we vote for our favorites.

I had a great time at this con and I look forward to attending it next year.

I couldn't go because of all the snow and ice. But I did go back in 2007. It's the only convention in this state worth mentioning really...

I don't quite know if I'm going yet. It depends on whether or not one of my friends is going. I wouldn't want to go to my first ever anime convention alone. Sad

Got back from A-kon earlier. Just uploaded the pictures I took. Not that many Tales cosplayers that I saw. ;-; Although one of my friends saw one that I saw last year. Here are the pictures:

Highlight of my trip was that RIGHT after I got a copy of Destiny 2 and Eternia there was a Judas cosplayer. Got his pic too. Razz
