Please note a minor addition to the rules:

If you choose to partake in illegal activities, including but not limited to things such as underage drinking and illicit drug use, please do not discuss those experiences here. Likewise, never try to persuade others to follow your example. While we realize that laws about such activities vary from country to country and will consequently allow for a bit of wiggle room in that respect, please use caution and common sense when discussing these topics. This is not to say that users will no longer be able to debate these issues or address them generally. After all, they're hotly disputed, and we wouldn't want to squelch debate. However, it's not okay to simply drop into a topic to let others know that you love smoking marijuana and getting high. First of all, it's typically not relevant to the discussion at hand, and second of all, it's simply not appropriate for a T-rated forum. |
We've had rules with regard to the discussion of illegal activities before, but those were geared very specifically toward media, including game, movie, and music downloads. This covers other areas as well, so please take note of the fact that this subsection of the rules is expanding.

Er, wasn't that from before we wrote the rules in the first place? I hadn't noticed it coming up as a big problem again until fairly recently.

No, they're just updated whenever we see fit. If you ever notice a gap in our policies, it's fine to PM us with suggestions. It doesn't need to be a certain time of year for us to make our changes.
