Well...ToV is finally out in NA and I want it. But there's only one thing that's bothering me. I downloaded and played the demo from the marketplace a while ago and I obviously enjoyed it. The only thing that frustrated me was the weird control layout that was chosen for battle. If I remember correctly, the "A" button was used for techs/artes/skills and usually isn't used for that. So I decided to change these awkward controls to the regular ones from the other games. Surprisingly, I wasn't able to...according to the menu screen. Anyways, my big question is: is it possible to change controls in the actual game like in previous games? Because getting used to these new ones will be bothersome. Thanks. Smile

That's because the demo is basically the japanese demo with the English script plugged in. And in Japan, they use the controls used in the demo, where the Attack and Tech buttons are switched.

It should be normal in the real game.

Actually, the button configuration is the same for both the demo and real game, but I'm sure you'll be able to configure it through options.

The controls are derived from the JP version. It's always been like this. The top button (Triagnle PS2, Y 360) brings up the menu, the right button (O PS2, B 360) is normal attack, bottom button (X PS2, A 360) is techs, and the left button ([] PS2, X 360) is guard.

Isn't it more the fact that the Japanese see O as a confirmation symbol and X as a deny (cancel, in this case) kind of symbol, and American programmers swap them so X is confirm and O is cancel but typically remap any other commands tied to the buttons to make things easier for them as well?

I thought the O and X thing was universal, not Japanese.

Hopefully that is true and they have a "classic" sort of layout because the Japanese layout really throw you off if you're used to the English setting.
