Tales of Glory (Update: Chapter 9)

I have decide to start my fanfiction which I have been planning for a long time. Hope you enjoy reading it! BTW, the three banners at the beginning are just temporary. When the first chapter is posted, I will decide due to however many votes there are to which one of the banners I should use.





It is said that at the beginning and creation of the world, Angels were the ones to inhabit the land called Alagien. When the other races like elves and humans came to be, they were oppressed, and worked as slaves for the angels. Centuries went by and finally, the elves and humans decided to join forces to stop the unfair treatment of their fellow brethren.

A war then broke out between the two forces. The war was intense, and was waging badly on the land. The leaders of the elves and the humans both knew that if the war waged on any longer, the land would be destroyed for good, and be of no use even if they were able to win the war. So the leaders of the 2 races went on their own to make pacts with the Summon Spirits, with the help of one angel who had felt the same about the war. If they were able to do that and make the pact with the Grand Summon spirit, Orealon, they would be able to save the land. They realized that the land was far from restoration in its current state, so their only option was to split up the lands, therefore isolating each of the races.

It is now 2068 Ether Era, a millenium after the race war. Tensions between the elves and humans have gotten bad because of the sharing in land and which race should get the most. Small conflicts could breakout into a full-scale war between the 2 races. Summon Spirits are still around, but the Grand Summon Spirit Orealon is said to have disappeared when the splitting of the lands happened a century ago. Angels are basically extinct to this generation, but myths and stories still linger around each town and village.

Ridus is a young man in the Knights of Orealon. He is training to become a real knight hoping to be able to help his race whenever needed against the elves. He used to live with both his parents, but has lately been staying at the barracks of Knights of Orealon. Is known as arrogant person, especially when it comes to combat, but is usually a very nice and formal person.

Scarlette Atilion
Age: 16
Gender: Female
Race: Angel
Occupation: None
Weapon: Wrist Blades (Along with Light and Dark Magic)

Scarlette is of the exalted race of Angels. She works as a part of an organization called Casta. She then ran away because of their horrible plan and is now wandering around in the human and elven continents. Is a very demanding and stubborn girl, who’s only interest is to live a peaceful and normal life.

Demilion Trint
Age: 111 (14 in human years)
Gender: Male
Race: Elf
Occupation: High Rank Sorcerer, Elder Elf’s right hand man
Weapon: Elemental Magic, daggers for close range combat (preferably curved)

The youngest Mage to ever reach the rank of Sorcerer, Demelion is a small young elf who is the closest of friends to the Elder Elf. He was adopted into the Elder Elf’s family at an early age, so he sees him a father figure. He is known to be a childish, cocky little brat around the group, which can sometimes lead him into trouble.

Athena Izentart
Age: 24
Gender: Female
Race: Human
Occupation: Advisor to the King of Kingdom of Lavalir, Tutor to the princesses
Weapon: Bow and Arrow (Healing Arts)

An intelligent young woman, Athena is the King’s advisor. Is very knowledgeable about the world outside the kingdom and ancient scripture, and also loves to draw maps of places (although she isn’t very good at it). Is the personal tutor of the twin princesses of Lavalir and is like a mother to them. Is very cautious and seems to recognize things when they’re not right quickly, but has a past that virtually no one seems to know.

Lyzerg Triton Areal-Gentir
Age: 20
Gender: Male
Race: Half-Elf
Occupation: Prince of Areal-Gentir
Weapon: Broadsword

Lyzerg is a young gallant noble who loves to flirt. He is the heir to the throne of the Areal-Gentir Empire. When he isn’t taking care of royal duties, he likes to watch the ocean and sunsets. Ever since this young prince’s “incident” 7 years ago, he has had a deep hatred for elves, even though he is half elven.

Raquel Mirrordiz
Age: 15
Gender: Female
Race: Half-Angel
Occupation: Thief
Weapon: Lance/ Spear

Raquel is a young sadistic girl apart of an all girl thief band. She created and is the leader of the band. She was an outcast to society because she wasn’t an elf, human, or even half-elf. She lives behind the palace in the Areal-Gentir kingdom. She is a very loud and excitable young girl, but her whole demeanor changes when she is fighting.

Secondary Characters

Tyren Lazuli
An excellent blacksmith and silversmith known all around the lands. He is an old fellow, and friends with Ridus. Although when he is working, he seems to be unaware of everything else around him.

Ryat Crousen, Elf Elder
Ryat is the Elder Elf of the Kingdom of Orealon. A very laid back leader; he is a righteous ruler and doesn’t like conflict very much. He is only retaliating against the Alagien Kingdom because they are provoking him.

Relex
A fire-coloured phoenix that Demelion keeps as a pet. Is very protective of Demelion and will stop at nothing to protect her. She seems to go berserk when she is splashed or hit with water.

King Rico Salvat III
The king of the Kingdom or Lavalir. A fair and righteous man who’s only goal is the protection and prosperity of his people. He is constantly getting into conflicts with the elves because of his daughters’ wills.

Eliza and Ertha Salvat
Eliza and Ertha are the lovely twin princesses of the Kingdom of Lavalir. The two are almost never seen without the other. Unlike their father, they only care about each other and other royalty. They have no interest in people of a lower class than them.

Lauren Atilion
Scarlette's younger sister. She came with he big sister to the elven and human continent in order to live with her.

Gloria Ariella
On the continent of Natura, she is rumoured to be the one who possesses Orealon's Spirit. She has a great influence on the citizens and tries her best to make everyone happy.

Yzen Tilace
A middle-aged man who lives in solitude. Few people know of his existence. He said to know everything about technology and scripture.

Treint
A mysterious man who despises the Elder Elf and his ideals. Once was the leader of the elves, but was over throne by the Elder. He is said to be plotting his revenge.

Rebecca
Rebecca is the leader of a rebel group located on a secluded island away from Asgrande. They oppose the ideals of the Angels on Asgrande.

Harry
Prince Lyzerg’s advisor. He has been taking care of him ever since his father, the previous King was murdered.

Rey
Ridus’ commander. Is very strict at most times, but lightens up when he is by himself with Ridus.

Kiezl & Riel
Twin fraternal brothers who are apart of Ridus’ graduating team. Kiezl and Ridus love to joke around, while Riel is always serious.


The Races

Humans- The main race that lives on the continent of Alagien, named after the former name of the land when it was together. They have been trying to advance technology wise, but are not that far along. There are very little poor people on this continent, but the numbers could increase due to the increasing tension between the humans and elves. They are very efficient with weapons like swords, axes, spears, etc. –Ruler- King Rico Salvat III

Elves- A race that embrace nature and is comfortable with old-fashion. They inhabit the continent of Orealon, named after the Grand Summon Spirit. They are a religious race and believe that Spirit of Orealon will manifest itself in a clan of the elves. They are the keepers of the sacred animals, phoenixes. Only high class elves have phoenixes. Everyone lives in harmony and peace together, but they dislike humans because of past conflicts over land which was taken away from them. They are excellent at using elemental magic. - Ruler- Ryat Crousen

Angels-This majestic race is thought to have been extinct long ago. They are secluded from every other race on and island by themselves. They consider what happened centuries ago their “Fall from Glory”, and want to rise back up. They have wings (obviously), but depending on their rank, they can have up to 6 wings. Technology wise, the angels are way more advanced than the humans and elves. They have the ability to use light and dark magic.

Lands

Alagien Continent-This continent is inhabited by mostly humans. They are trying to become more advanced in technology.

Lavalir, the Palace
The capital of the Alagien continent. Mostly wealthy people and the Knights of Orealon live in this capital. Many craftsman and blacksmith make a living here because of the Knights of Orealon. They supply them with weapons.

Alsace, the Mining City
Alsace is a lively city filled with miners. This city exports all types of jewels and ores to the palace and other cities. Although it is a mining city, this place is known for it being rumoured to be the home of one of the Etheran Spirits.

Lorraine, the Business Town
A prosperous town where a lot of trading goes on. This town is the place for businessmen. It is also known for its research on all types of technology. It is responsible for the current upgrade of Lavalir’s technology.

Cuire, the Farming Town
A small town with rich soil, so it is easy to grow crops and other things. They ship all kinds of food to every town.


Lantis, the Abandoned Town
A town abandoned a long time ago because it was too close to the shore and constant tidal waves ruined this city. No one is known to live in this area anymore.



Athern Border
A fortified wall to split the Natura continent from the Alagien continent. No one is allowed past this without some sort of identification showing that they have business in the other continent.




Natura Continent-The continent of the elves. This place is home to most of the Summon Spirits.

Airia, the Port
A large port at the edge of the continent.

Naricute, the Natural Village
Where most of the elves live. This place is a bustling village. There is no need for a farming town because this place is all natural where growing fruits and vegetable are possible.

Tirius, the Oasis
A small town usually used as a market for the elves. A lot is said to be known about the summon spirit of fire here.

Utnion, the Gossip Central
A fairly large town, where a lot of business gets taken care of. This place is known for get information on almost anything.

Summon Reserves
A group of elves protect these places where the Summon Spirits reside. They don’t let anyone through unless they have approval from the Elder Elf.



Hibirz Continent-The name of the continent belonging to the half breeds. They mostly mind their own business and do not get involved in human and elven conflict. It is in the north, inbetween a part of the Alagien and Natura Continent.

Areal-Gentir
The kingdom where the half-blooded prince Lyzerg lives. He rules this kingdom by himself, even though it seems he is too young to run this kingdom by himself. It is located in the center of the continent. They receive most of their food and other items from other kingdoms because of the poor farming conditions here. The poor farming conditions come from the year-round snow. This kingdom is the only place known to exist on this continent.

Asgrande- The name of the remote island in which the Angels live on. It is unknown to the rest of the world. It is way more advanced than the other races. It is said to be a “heaven”.

????????-An unknown small island where little is known about it. The geography and its inhabitants are unknown and undiscovered.


The Exalted Four
The Exalted Four is a group of angels known to totally despise the other races and those who oppose their ideals. They control the Angel army known as the “Choir”.

Orealon’s Star
Orealon’s Star is the term used to describe the ancient artifact that is said now to be necessary to manifest Orealon. This is thought to be lost and many have lost faith. But some believe that it is out there somewhere. Orealon himself is said to be the God of the world, and who ever makes a pact with him shall have ultimate power.

Etheran Spirits

The Etheran Spirits were basically servants of the Grand Etheran Spirit, Orealon. Each one is attuned to a certain element. There are 7 elements in total, and the Grand Summon Spirit is the 8th element, Light.

Ether

Ether is the entity in which super-natural powers can become at the fighters disposal. Ether can be drawn out of the air into the user’s body and then can be used. Elves have no trouble at all control ether in order to use magic. Half-Elves aren’t as smooth as pure-bloods at using ether, but are still able to use it with no problem. Humans have the most trouble mastering the use of ether. They are still taught how to use it, but rarely is there anyone who is able to use ether properly in battle. Angels are exceptional at light and dark ether, but it is rare to see an angel using all of the elements.

Ether can be used for 2 things; to use elemental spells, or to substantially increase strength or speed. Most of the time, ether is used for elemental spells because elves are already at an over average speed. When a human has mastered the use of ether, it is usually used to enhance physical attributes.

The more ether is used by a person, the higher the level of ether can be used. There are three levels of ether in which the spells become stronger, or the attacks get stronger. If the person’s ether is stronger enough, an aura can be seen around them, and depending on how stronger it is, the aura will be bigger.

Alright. I thought it might as well be time that I post the first chapter, so here it is; the first chapter of Tales of Glory. Don't get your hopes up because there is some action.


Chapter 1-The Path to a Knight

The wind felt nice through Ridus’ long black hair. The sun shone brightly over the sky, but the wind kept it an even temperature. It was finally time for him to become a real soldier. He walked along the path with his “graduating” team of 3 consisting of him, Kiezl, and Riel to the assigned location they have been giving for their final exam.

They had been in the training ranks for months now and have been working hard day in and day out. It had felt like an eternity to them for how long they he had been learning sword skills; proper stance, parrying, following-up, and defending. Ridus was always at the top of his class when it came to his sword training, and it wasn’t because he followed everything perfectly, it was because he added his own form to it. But when it came down to learning in the classroom, he was a joke. He tried as hard as he could to focus, but nothing they said made sense to him, especially when they tried teaching them how to use ether.

Ether was very hard to use, especially for humans. He didn’t have the slightest clue where it came from and how to use it, but he though he was strong enough as it was already.

His reverie was interrupted by his commander’s booming voice. “Ridus! Stop dawdling behind a catch up with the rest of us.”

Ridus sped up obediently to the rest of the group. There was a short silence until they got to the assigned location. They were at the outskirts of the Lavalir, and the area they were in looked like plain barren field with the exception of a cave in the near distance.

The commander turned to the three graduating students. “Alright. This is it boys. As you are already aware of, your exam consists of you clearing a real mission by yourself. We have been receiving complaints about a strange animal living inside this cave and causing havoc during the night time. Your job for your exam is to exterminate the animal living inside that cave.” He turned back around and looked towards the sky. “You have until sundown, so don’t take your time.”

The boys stepped infront of the commander and replied in unison, “We won’t let you down sir!” They then ran together into the depths of the cave.

The cave was like any other regular cave. There was nothing unusual about the cave that they hadn’t seen before. It was humid, and only lit just enough so that they could see their way through. It was a pretty big cave, with deep engraved carves in the wall, but there was nothing scary about it at all.

The boys walked confidently through the cave, as if the cave was just a game to them. Any monsters that had come across their path hadn’t been something they couldn’t handle.

“That’s number 30!” yelled Ridus as he stuck his sword in the ground. He danced around his sword smiling cheerfully.

“Ya, ya, ya.” said Kiezl as unenthusiastically as possible. “I’d still beat you in a duel.” he said with a little smirk.

“Ah, what was that, weaker twin? I believe the score is already 5-0. Riel has a better chance of beating me and he’s an archer.” said Ridus mockingly.

Riel couldn’t help but let out a little laugh.

“Oh yeah?” said Kiezl, unsheathing his sword. He ran towards Ridus’ back quickly a swung a quick slash towards him.

“Too slow.” replied Ridus, and with no effort at all, he removed his sword from the ground, and parried him deeper into the cave. He ran towards Kiezl and swung down hard with his sword. He just managed to block Ridus’ attack, but stumbled backwards into the darkness of the cave.

“Alright, that’s enough.” commanded Riel. They both waited silently for a reply from Kiezl.

A few seconds went by which felt like an eternity, and then a sudden cry broke the silence. Kiezl came running out of the darkness towards them, and a pair of purple glowing eyes shone behind him.

He turned around to face what monster lay in the depths of this cave. A large purple and black bird emerged from the darkness. It gave a loud screech, causing them to cover their ears. They stood face to face with an unknown animal that they had never face before, and they would have to overcome it if they wanted to become knights.

“Finally, something challenging.” said Ridus arrogantly. He took his sword and ran towards the gigantic bird.

“Hold on Ridus you impulsive jer-,” Kiezl was cut off as an arrow whizzed by his head. He turned around and saw Riel with his bow out and getting ready to string another arrow.

“Don’t just stand around, go help him.” said Riel, shooting an arrow and planting it in the bird’s wing.

Kiezl gave Riel a hard glare before drawing his sword a rushing towards the bird. Ridus had already started attacking it. He dodged the bird when it lunged at him and then drove his sword down its side. It roared in pain and flapped its wings violently. The sudden gust of wind threw him off. The bird then whipped its wings towards Ridus, knocking him towards the wall and knocking him unconscious.

“Ridus!” shouted Kiezl. He ran to Ridus’ aid, evading the bird’s attempts to stomp on him.

He shook Ridus awake and together they ran to the bird’s head. Riel shot an arrow in the bird’s eye. Ridus and Kiezl took advantage of the opportunity and did a cross slash over its face. The bird roared vehemently and collapsed to the floor as both of them ran back to the safety of where Riel was standing.

“We did it!” shout Kiezl with praise. He grabbed Ridus’ and Riel’s hand started dance around.

Ridus notice the bird still stirring, and all of a sudden it opened its mouth. “Damn it!” he said to himself. Purple ether began to gather inside its mouth. “Damn, it’s too early to celebrate! Riel, Kiezl, get out of the way!” said Ridus, pushing them both back and drawing his sword. He held a defensive stance.

The ether began to look more destructive as it was charging. “Don’t do it Ridus!” said Kiezl. “Run!!” He ran towards Ridus, his hands reaching out for him.

“Don’t be a hero! We need to make it out of here together!” he yelled. He ran towards Ridus, but it was too late. The bird fired the blast as it wiped out everything in its path.

He still held his stance as the blast came, but when it reached him, it was way more power than he expected. He started being pushed back by the blast. It was too strong for him. “Damn it. It’s too strong for me to stop. I can’t hold out for much longer.”

Just as he had lost all hope, a figure appeared in front of him. The person stuck out their hand and parted the beam two ways. “Who the hell are you?!?!” said Ridus without an ounce of gratefulness in his voice. The person looked at him from the corner of their eye, but said nothing. As soon as the beam was done, a glyph appeared under the mysterious person. “Holy Lance!” they yelled, and pillars of white came around the bird, and in a flash, five glowing spears pierced through its body. It fell to the ground one final time with a soft cry.

After a silent moment, the stranger turned around, finally revealing their face. It was a young girl, who looked a little young then Ridus. She had long, red, scarlet hair which matched her tunic and gold eyes. The tunic went down just above her knees, but longer in the back. Her hair was tied in a pony tail with a medium-sized white ribbon. She wore a pair of weird looking gloves with metal cases attached to them, revealing to be holders for blades. “What the hell is a phoenix doing here?” she said to herself out loud.

“Who the hell are you and what are you doing here? Didn’t you see we were in the middle of something?” said Ridus angrily. He didn’t like the fact that he had been saved and shown up by a girl.

“You proud little brat, if it wasn’t for me that blast would have fried you!” she said sternly. “You should be in my debt right now.”

“Yeah right.” he said smugly. He turned around to leave, but then he saw something shocking. Riel and Kiezl were both lying on the ground, both with severe wounds all over their bodies. “What… the… hell… happened?” he said with shock on his face. His body all of a sudden shut down as he fell to the ground.

He was caught by the strange girl. “Damn, failure. Can’t even protect his own friends while getting hurt in the process.” She said, carrying him out towards the entrance of the cave. She saw a group in the distance running towards them.

“What the hell happened?” said Ridus’ commander. He looked frantically at Ridus collapsed over the girl’s shoulders.

“They couldn’t handle the animal in there.” she said bluntly. “There are two more wounded inside there.”

The commander signaled for rest to go inside as he followed behind. “Take him to the carriage over there. They’ll treat him and take you both back to Lavalir.” he said before rushing into the cave.

The girl waltzed over to the cart. She put him in the back of one of the carriage where 2 medical nurses sat. One of the nurses reached to treat Ridus’ wounds. “It’s ok, I’ll heal him.” she said. She put her hands above Ridus as a soft glowing light appeared from her hands. “Could you please get this cart moving?” she asked in a somewhat rude tone. The nurses motioned towards the front, telling the drivers to start moving.

As they were on their way to the kingdom, Ridus was unconscious and being taken care of by this strange girl who he didn’t even know her name. Who was she and why did she save them? An unexpected meeting leading to an unexpected journey.
