If I actually took the time to make a topic with installation instructions for mIRC, guided them through connecting to a room I'll create for the sole purpose of being a FG chatroom, made it easy as 1 2 3
What are the odds of that getting a sticky in FG/not being locked/something silly? _________________

I don't see that being locked, I don't see anything wrong with making it a sticky, and I doubt they'll actually use it, and if they do I doubt it'll change much.
Might wanna wait for other mods' approval though. _________________

Make sure that it gets stickied, otherwise it'll never see the first page. _________________

Let me see if I'm following you create a chat room (in no way linked with our forum) and want to make a topic to show FG regulars how to get there? Oh and to make it a sticky.
Hmm I guess I have no problem with that and I don't see how it breaks any rules so it's cool with me. Not sure what the others (not counting me and Ryke) think though. _________________ *Avatar by Dede/Sig by WarriorAngel01*

It's fine with me, but you have to include in the topic that the chat room or whatever it is that you create is completely unendorsed by Namco, and that nothing that happens there will be under our supervision. Also, title it "The Unofficial ______." The main thing to watch out for is that it doesn't look like it's endorsed by Namco, and we need to be especially careful of that if it's going to be a sticky. Aside from that, yeah, it's totally allowed. _________________

Yeah, as long as it fully establish that it isn't a Namco-related thing, I don't see any problem with it. _________________

That's sounds cool! But why stop at forum games posters? I'm sure those posting mainly in other topics would be interested too. _________________

Because all forum gamers do is chat about everything and ignore the existence of messengers. Various threads are proof of this, especially threads with large page count numbers. Lurk a few... _________________

I have to say that I thinks it's a very sweet notion, but not necessary. If people want to chat...use your PMs. That's what they are for...or members can use AOL, Yahoo, MSN, and various other types of messaging. It's ridiculous that a chatroom should be needed. Enough people already join to post once or twice and then leave....who knows, with a chatroom, it could get worse.
I'm not trying to be offensive towards anyone...that's just how I feel about the topic. _________________

The point is that they don't use AIM or PMs, which is why they more or less need this chat room. _________________

You should be making sure that the people in the chat won't be blaming anyone not in the chat for anything, or asking for favors from the mods, etc. mainly because this is just an external thing that is provided by one member of the forum, not the forum as a whole. _________________

The problem was that Forum Games is being used for chat, which is not the purpose of the section. If there is a definite alternative to using clubs and "games" for chat, then perhaps the members who prefer using a "game or club to talk would be more satisfied with an easily accessible and less intimidating walkthrough to chatting.
I suspect that most people who do use the forum for casual discussion are simply intimidated by the idea of making something of any sort of large span.
Also, 2 post members would be both A) not involved or determined enough to go through the slight trouble of finding their way to the chat and B) not a real threat. If they become a problem, blocking is easy, and once they become inactive the program automatically removes them.
Still object? _________________

A question though, if people aren't using PMs or messengers to chat, then what good would a chat room do, even with instructions?
Though I will say, I'm not opposed to a chat room for the forum on IRC as long as it's not on dalnet or efnet. _________________

I understand as to what you're planning to do, and I think it's a nice thought...it's just that, with providing a place for them to chat, it's like telling them that it's okay to use the forum for chat in the first place.
But...if you plan on putting certain rules and regulations with the chat room...then, no...I have no objection towards it; but, will not take part in it myself. All in all, though...it's a good idea. ^_^ _________________
