Who is your favorite god-general and why? * minor spoilers*

Maybe Regret. But I'll go through all of them in order.

Regret - Awesome design, awesome fighting style (I think the only character in the series to actually wield guns, someone correct me if I'm wrong), incredibly cool and composed in tight situations (scene on the Tartarus is self-explanatory - had Guy not come in, she would have single-handedly had the party in her grasp, even Jade of all people), not a shabby backstory through the flashback scenes with Tear (she really wasn't as "evil" as portrayed in the main quest - well, hardly any of the God-Generals were), and being Tear's teacher was icing on the cake. I had some beef with all the other God-Generals but I don't recall ever having a glaring complaint about her. Oh, and she proves (along with Tear) that you don't have to show any more skin than necessary to be sexy.

Asch - Now...although I place him second, I'm not really sure where I stand with him. I don't particularly *hate* him, though I wouldn't be the first person to defend him either. The only reasons I respect him is because of his tragic backstory and helps Luke come back in the end - if that's what you believe. IMO it's much more meaningful if he actually died and definitely puts more impact on his death scene, which, while sad, the context of the scene itself was actually quite glorious. But if he actually comes back over Luke, then well, the sheer glory of said scene and all that babble near the end about wanting Luke to surpass him pretty much flies out the window, among other things which I'll save for another discussion. And then any initial respect I may have had for Asch drops...dramatically. Maybe another reason I'm not exactly the biggest fan of him is, well, because I played Symphonia before this game (as most people here probably have) and I thought Kratos handled the badass role far better than Asch ever did. And from what I know of Leon from Tales of Destiny, I believe he does too. So uh, yeah, I just think there are "better" badass and well-developed characters out there as far as I'm concerned. >.>

Dist - I'll admit, I wasn't the biggest fan of him in the beginning, but I'd be damned if I didn't think he was actually entertaining. Not really much backstory compared to the others, but he makes up for it with just sheer personality alone.

Largo - Pretty much the opposite of Dist, not *that* much of a personality but a rather tragic backstory. He's okay I guess.

Sync - Pretty much a "love or hate" character from what I've seen (as with Asch). He sorta did make an interesting foil to Ion. I'm not the biggest fan of him or anything though.

Arietta - Now uhh, don't get me wrong, I don't *hate* her (I really don't hate any of the characters in this game), but well, I did find her a bit on the annoying side. Yeah, she had her reasons and she was tragic, though I just never found myself sympathizing with her. *hides from the Arietta fans*

My favourite is Asch, closely followed by Sync. I think the reason I like them is because of their choices - they're two characters who didn't have to end up at the places they did, they didn't have to be the people they were. But they did turn out that way. I'm going to get it out there that when a character makes bad choices, I'll like them a lot. It's a sign to me that they're human and therefore on a level I can understand.

Sync and Asch decided to become bitter, angry and tough guys because of what happened to them, but it didn't have to be that way. It's so indicative of real life, I can't help but like them. Chances are I'm more likely to meet someone like them in real life than someone who put their past totally and completely behind them.

My favorite God-General is Dist (he has such a unique personality), followed by Largo and Legretta. The rest I only feel somewhat neutral about. Smile

Edit: Did any of you see 300 recently? I just saw it last Friday evening with my friend who plays Tales with me. One of the Persians in the movie comes to talk to the Spartans riding in a very fanciful char that looks quite a lot like Dist's. I recall leaning over to hiss to my friend "OMG it's Dist!" and we both were laughing for a while after that. I suppose you would have had to see the movie to understand.

Dist would be my absolute favorite if not because he makes those annoying robots that crash on poor old me. (Yeah, I am generally a noob at playing this game, so sue me). With that being said, in terms of personality, Dist wins, while as I've said before, Legretta wins for coolness.

Dist has that personality that I just love ^_^ He's a hilarious cockroach.

And his fon machines, Revenge Journal, and FLOATING CHAIR don't hurt.

Asch is about one-third looks, and the rest of it is random stuff that I haven't really organized in my head.

Legretta lacks a good backstory.

Largo is boring.

Arietta is annoying.

Sync is...very annoying. I'll leave it at that (cuz his fangirls will slaughter me).
