Namco must have just chosen those voices carelessly.

To expand on what Conn said, GBA Phantasia was localized by Nintendo, not Namco. Same thing with Tales of Symphonia, that was Nintendo's doing; not Namcos. Which explains the nice job on Symphonia and the degraded job on Abyss...but Legendia's localization was great. =D

And I think Kimahri should do Eugene! XDDD

I see....Nintendo just has to own some part of any game that goes on their consoles don't they...makes me sick.

Who is Kimahri?

Kimahri is a Ronso, a character from Final Fantasy X. He's some sort of lion with the posture of a human.

Anyway, it's funny how Wakka and Kimahri have the same voice actor.

Whoa they do?? O.O

I want the original VAs to return, but not GBA Phantasia PLEASE!!!! Pray

And I'm really interested when it comes to Leon, I love Leon-sama....

I'd be okay for Tear's VA to be the same if she could put in some more emotion....

ToS was localized by Namco, if it wasn't the case, there wouldn't even be a website aobut it on namco's. Nintendo only funded part of it, thus putting pressions to namco to localize the game...

Tear is supposed to be emotionless. We just see that all the time in the game. The lack of emotion comes from the character, not the VA. Heather Halley (Tear's VA) also did Chloe Valens. =)

Actually, Namco DID translate Symphonia- but Nintendo provided them with most if not all of the money. Phantasia, however, was done without any involvement from Namco (other than getting the rights, obviously).

Tear's VA isn't Heather Halley. And her JP VA isn't so boring and actually fits her age.

Me and my uber-deep voice take offense to this.

If her breasts are any indication, she was an early bloomer. I don't see why she her voice should be high pitched.

Wikki & IMDB say she did.

I don't think Tear's voice is that deep, I mean it's deep enough for a woman. As Conn said, Tear is an early bloomer.

Okay I agree with happip Tears voice in the JP one fits her more then the english one. In the JP AV Tears voice sounded like a young girl caring for her brother, or how she says it her (o)nii-san. Unlike the evil dub one it's always Van Van Van, when she talks about her bother its kinda takes out the feeling of her being a 16 year old girl. Even if she was tought to be a emotionless person you saw her every now and then. Saying aww this is cute or i don't want you to die *blank*.

Also I think that the English VA didn't put much emotion in to Tear it isn't the characters fault. In the Japanese one she seem more like a girl she should be then in the English one. To me when I play the NA one I didn't see her as an 16 year old girl, I see her as a 18 year old girl. I just can't really put it in words how the JP version was better then the NA version. Oh and to clear things up I played the NA version first then the Japanese one.

edited(its 1 am here i was getting tired)

Even if Tear's VA was a bit flat, there's no reason at all to switch it now. It'd just be confusing. I say leave them all if you're going to bother getting any of them back.

As for the whole localization argument, Namco themselves localized Destiny, Destiny II (Eternia), Symphonia, Legendia, and Abyss, though Nintendo may have provided some funding for Symphonia. Phantasia, on the other hand, was passed off by Namco to Nintendo who in turn passed it off to some tiny subsidiary company that obviously didn't do such a great job. The VAs from that clearly wouldn't return. Either use the OVA voices there or some completely different ones if people think Chester's too deep (although that doesn't really bother me so much).

Oh that's nothing; The voice actor who did Wakka and Kimahri also does Bender on Futurama. Oh, and the awesome yet alcoholic Jecht? His voice actor played Odie on Garfield and Friends. XD

I dislike Tear's voice as much as the next person. She sounds like she's 26 when she's suppose to be like 16. The only merti I can give Tear's acting is the emotionless part of it. But Lunar is right. Why not just bring her back? It'd be quicker and a lot less of a hassle...
