Indeed, exception here was that he already had a few points accumulated and the all at once, it went skyrocketing to 20 points. I didn't even have time to get to 10 points and warn like the system mentionned. I would have, if he had reached 19 or less, but the choice was not mine. _________________ "Taiyz: What the heck! @Highlander: Nowhere does it say there has to be warnings given. It does say mods will update you on your points if it gets high enough, but if all the points are totalled up at one point (he posted all those stupid pictures very quickly), then obviously they aren't just going to decide "oh he broke all those rules at once, let's not give him a temporary ban." And if members who are mods oppinions don't matter than you shouldn't have made this topic. Use logic when posting next time.
He's not even permanetly banned. Not like it matters with as many banned members that are still around. _________________

Actually, HoC I'm sorry because I made a huge mistake, when I read your post saying he was tempa-banned, I read it as you banning him because you got annoyed, not because of the points. Sorry. _________________

Personally, I doubt that an overabuse of owl pictures will really effect the outcome of anyone's life. I also doubt thatr he would have continued if you had PMed him, and I also doubt that he would have ignored you if you'd asked to have him delete or edit his posts himself. Cleaning up after all that would have been as much punishment as a few days' ban.
Just throwing that out there with the general advice to the Moderators or Administrators: Perhaps personal messaging will leave better results for all than immediate bannination. |
Dan/Dan's "brother", seriously, read the posts better. He's temporarily banned. It's not the end of the world. He either didn't read the rules or he purposely broke them, it's his fault either way. _________________

Actually, that was Dan... Sorry about that post, I'm going to edit it now. He doesn't usually post here except for in RPs. _________________

Doesn't matter anyway, since it's against the rules. _________________

If he hit the 20 point mark, then he is temp banned. That's how it works.
However, it would seem better if the mods occasionally sent a PM saying the person is getting close to the 20 or 30 point limit, as said in the other topic. _________________

Woah. And entire thread devoted to me. O.o
When Hero contacted me on AIM he told me not to ask my friends to publicly complain about him... I told him I had not told 5v1 to post a complaint, I see now that he meant this one by Highlander. >.>
YEah, I didnt ask him to post this. <.<
In any case, I feel the need to correct all the misconceptions in this thread.
First off, I shall explain the story of the morning.
I wake up, and it's a usual boring Thursday. Thursdays always seem to be a boring day, as my group that usually gets together for Game Night on thursdays hasn't been doing so for a while. Thus, I figured I'd go on the forum.
In the OOC thread for one of the RPs I was in ((I forget which)) We began discussing the highest posters on the forum. Due to my current 407th position on Lacirtaep, I decided to work at raising my position for something to do. I began posting in every thread I could find, at this point having posts with actual content.
About halfway through my posting-spree, I came across the database with all the owl pictures. As usual, I was late to find the fad. However, I decided that I wanted to use them in some posts ((Like how MasterT uses the "Phail" pictures.)). Needless to say, I got carried away, and by the time I found the GFTO picture, I was kinda punch-drunk with mirth. Thusly I posted it in the Greetings and Goodbyes forum in 5 threads.
So it wasn't only the GFTO picture, there were a lot of other owls too. And for the most part (At least until I reached the GFTO owl) I was using discretion on where to post them, only putting them where I deemed they fit, which I still think most of them did.
In any case, now the specific things that need addressing....
| Quote: |
Considering he went on a posting spree of "GTFO my internets" pics in a million topics, i.e., posts with no actual content in them, I think the temporary deactivation was justified.
But that's just me. |
The GTFO was in 5 topics. The rest were other pictures, with less offensive captions.
| Quote: | | is "GTFO my internets" in welcome threads really on topic? |
No, it is not, and I realize my mistake now.
| Quote: | | second, I didn't really have the time to say anything. I was forced to act fast, Highlander. | My only problem with this is that you weren't really forced to act fast at all, I had already stated in the very thread you said you deactivated me in that I was done posting them.
| Quote: | | He either didn't read the rules or he purposely broke them, it's his fault either way. | It's actually neither, at the time I did not think I was really breaking the rules. Now I accept that I was.
Yeah, that's all there is to say. I broke the rules, I accept that. I'm sorry for my offense, I didn't mean to hurt anybody, I was just having some fun, but still, I broke the rules, and there must be repercussions.
So, yeah. That's all there is to be said.
In any case, I'm back, and I won't be breaking the rules again any time soon _________________
