Really? Then why do Metal Gear fans consider the European version of MGS2 to be how the same is 'supposed to be' (since it included The Document of Metal Gear Solid 2)? If the game was 'supposed to be' Japanese, then extras wouldn't matter.
Not that MGS2 is a RPG, but when was MGS2 PAL considered to be the it version? I'm pretty sure that's what Substance is for.

this is going to sound extremely extremely dumb, but I thought that you could only play games from different countries on consoles that are from that country because of the whole region thing- or am i just stupid? Does this mean that I can import all the other tales series from Japan and play them on my UK region ps2? Really? Can someone please tell me because I think that it's a real shame that just cause we're in Europe that we can play it- i know i'm not looking at the big picture and being really immature, but hey, i'm like that and i am willing to throw my money at them if i can play the games!

Most people here have either a modded ps2 or an imported, Japanese one. Supposedly the PS3 will remove the problem of region encodings -- but only for ps3 games? (My sources are iffy, so I don't know how right htis is)

As for the language issue... I know a fair amount of Japanese, and I have to admit that Tales of the Abyss is HARD to understand. School vocabulary doesn't cover most of the stuff that Jade spews out of his mouth. (Other characters, with a less complex vocabulary, were a lot easier to understand XD )
I know that I don't mind English voice actors. I prefer the Japanese in most cases (anime, at least) simply because I like trying to pick up as much of the language as possible, and sometimes just to gloat to myself about how much I can understand now! Smile Foreign languages are best when you know what's being said. But the English is NOT bad. Tales of Symphonia had a great localization, as did Tales of Legendia. (Even if I do wish there were more voice acting in both of them. :X) Them being in English certainly didn't detract for the game. Heck, I loved Tales of Eternia (my first Tales game :3) and the voice acting in that was definitely not at the standard of ToS and ToL. Granted, I did turn off the voices in that because they started grating on my nerves.

AND I guess completely back on Topic... I love Tales of the Abyss ^_^ I can't wait to play it in a language I completely understand. That way, I can actually sidequest! Instead of just jumping from one plot point to the next. (Oh, he said we have to go to Ketelburg? Dunno why we're going there, but off we go!)

Tales of Symphonia was the only Tales to come out on a platform console here. Legendia's also still TBA; but we'll get the handhelds here because the 2 english released portable Tales games are also in Europe, as well as America.
