Does this game uise random encounters (Like most RPGs) or Xenosaga, ToS, and Star Ocean type encounters where you can see them and you have to run into them?

It has encounters in the same manner as Tales of Symphonia. Unlike Tales of Symphonia, though, you don't just have generic blobs and such on the field; you see what the enemy actually is...

| The only time you ever see blobs is in 2 areas on the world map that are hard to get to (sorta). |
