SHe's basically your healer and has attack spells, so I gather that she is a very versatile unit.

She can heal, she can cast attack + support magic, and she can melee attack as well. I'd say she's not bad.

between Tear and Natalia though who's better to use.

Since they both get physical tech skills, healing and attack magic (with tear getting tone songs and status buffing type spells.)

But Natalia has heal a better spell then Tears First Aid.

I don't think either of them really has strong advantages over the other, though only Tear can cast Resurrection (not counting Anise's Reala doll skill which can do the same thing if I'm not mistaken). But they can both complement each other well in battles.

both Tears spell and the doll spell is called Raise Dead for its revive killed party members.

Ressurection for Tear is a tone song only and = the Revitalize spell from Symphonia (meaning it only restores HP and doesn't revive anybody that dies.)

While Natalia has a Revive spell = this games version of FF6's Life 3 spell.

So in certain battles (Nebelim anybody) I'm not sure who the best between Tear and Natalia is (or should you take all 3 Tear, Natalia and Anise instead?)

If you'd ask me to be objective on who's better, I'd say they're both equal. Natalia is stronger on the "melee" side than Tear, while Tear actually learns some attack spells, but Natalia doesn't learn a single offensive spell. Someone once defined Natalia as a "perfect support character". I can't agree to it more: She has good range for her attacks, her speed in battle is alright, and she has a very nice array of healing and support spells.

If you'd ask for a personal opinion, or rather, who I liked to have more, it's Tear. She's capable of some forms of "area healing", she can be an offensive mage if you want, and she moves fairly fast in battle, or rather, at least fast enough. Plus, for battle like Nebilim (to answer Vegh's question), I'd rather take Tear because she's capable of some offensive spells and that's the main damage you're going to do on her. Since Nebilim pretty much kills with one hit even on hard mode, "healing" isn't that useful anyway, and reviving is the better option. But for a lot of battles, especially early on when you first get Natalia, she starts with Heal and Tear will only have "First Aid", so she can heal more than her.

Overall it's just a matter of choice really, anyone can do. They're both great. Go with them both if you think one healer isn't enough and your problem is solved ^^'

Yeah pretty much XD Like I said before, they both work well with each other. Natalia is probably better than Tear for melee and Tear is better with attack spells, so they both balance each other out.

Hmm I just realized something...I think Tear has more of Raine's spells from ToS on her T side, whereas Natalia has more of Raine's S techs. Another reason why it's good to just have both XD

I guess Tear's kind of a Red Mage, then - pretty much a jack of all trades with a focus on magic?

She's not really a melee character. I mean, yeah, she does fairly well if you use her offensive techs from what I've seen, but she only has a few of those. Basically, if an enemy gets near her, she can fend them off competently, but for the most part, she should be casting spells most of the time and attacking physically only on occasion.
