no from what I heard from gamefaqs.com spell canceling is still in game.
But you cast certain spells of Tear's to do this. Example her enhance spell practically makes all spells have no casting time.
The wikipedia site has a tales of the abyss walkthrough etc but its in japanese only text (but does mention spell canceling.)
As listed at gamefaqs.com
Tear
Spell Enhance (Lv. 37)
TP 18 || Reduces casting time for target
FOF Change (Wind)
Witchcraft || Reduces casting time for all
characters within area of effect
AD skills.
Speed Spell (Magic Attack +60
All magic capable characters have reduced casting time.
- Jade, Anise, Tear, Natalia
Turnless (Physical Attack 60+, Agility 60+)
Combonation techs (Ougi) can be linked back to Techs (Tokugi)
Canceller (Physical Attack 80+, Agility 80+)
Able to link 2 Techs (Tokugi).
Spell Keep (Magical Defence 30+, Magical Attack 30+)
When casting is interrupted, if the same spell is cast again
casting time resumes from whence it was interrupted.
- Jade, Tear, Anise, Natalia
Rhythm (Magical Attack 20+, Agility 20+)
Repeatedly hit (Attack) during spell casting to reduce casting time.
- Jade, Tear, Anise, Natalia
abuse all of above for easy spell/tech canceling. |

Vegh, reducing casting time for spells has nothing to do with spell-cancelling >_> Are you sure you know what it is he's talking about?

Majutsuko, just ignore him. He does this on GameFAQs too - posts stuff straight rom the FAQs and calls it "helping." He doesn't have the game and doesn't know a damn thing aside from how to cut-and-paste.

We already lost the gamefaqs board because the mods refused to take any actions (and there were actions to take), and now it looks like this place is going downhill as well.

The only time I recall them taking out spell cancelling was when they made the PlayStation 2 version of Tales of Symphonia. Otherwise, it always seems to be in a Tales game if its battle system allows for it...

There hasn't been any action to take here. Sure, Veghesther often posts inaccurate information under the guise of help. Sure, I've wanted a ban from the moment I saw that Veghesther joined. However, he has yet to violate the rules in such a way that warrants a ban, and unless there is such an offense, he will not be banned...

There hasn't been anything to catch. Also, all this off-topic discussion of Veghesther only makes the problem worse. Rather than go off-topic, just ignore his posts or discuss the matter in private. A post to correct any misinformation given is one thing, but derailing the topic because of it only makes things worse...

I doubt he's sitting at his computer with a evil smirk on his face thinking "HA! Take that!" and posting stuff just to see our reaction and get pissed at him. I don't think he does it maliciously.
On a side note about spell's, I was fighting Synch and he was casting a spell. I did a combo on him and he defended right before he said the spells name. As I ran away, right after the spell finished, he says "Ground Dasher" (is that the correct name?) since he didn't say it before and next thing I know there's another Ground Dasher thrown at me. It only happened to me once, but I'm wondering if anyone has any thoughts on why this happened? |

Maybe I've just gotten used to him, but you guys that are following Vegh around flaming him are way more annoying than he is. And you're also breaking the rules more objectively than he is. Stop your insulting off-topic griping.

even if the boss's didn't have spell keep sometimes the boss's spells like ground dasher practically doesn't have a charge up time.
Meaning no matter how many times you hit the boss it will still manage to cast a spell (kind of like how canceling the elemental fiends in the final dungeon of Destiny II/Eternia is impossible.)
Only because they cast spells so fast its practically impossible to cancel them for the entire battle.
So just maybe some of the boss fights in this game are similar (reguardless of the games difficulty setting.) |

No, thats not quiet what I mean. I'm talking about casting a spell and then casting another spell without any charge up. When Synch casts a spell, he keeps his arm extended until the spell is done. I'm talking about him never even retracting his arm. One spell is silent while the other is shouted out.
Edit: It may just be a glitch, but if I can harness it...needless to say it will kickass. |
