List of Games
Full Game Name [System] [Release?] [Popular Abbreviations]
Description
Characters: List of playable characters with Japanese/English names where applicable ...

Tales of Phantasia [Super Famicom] [Japan only] [ToP, ToP-SFC]
The legendary RPG that started it all. The game features some of the best graphics and music that its console could handle, a fully vocalized opening song, and a revenge-oriented plot that can stand alone but isn't meant to. It was unofficially translated by DeJap, if you don't mind some changes, exaggerations, and errors.
Characters: Cless, Mint, Arche, Klarth, Chester

Tales of Destiny [Playstation] [Japan, North America] [ToD, ToD1]
The first Tales title to be released in English. This indirect sequel to Phantasia made vast improvements to the battle system and is the first multiplayer Tales. It has a lot of technical issues, but its new features paved the way for future Tales. This game's story revolves around the Swordians--five sentient swords--and finishing a long-forgotten war. It had an APW Chat system that was chopped down to a useless little window in English version though.
Characters: Stahn, Rutee, Leon, Philia, Garr/Woodrow, Mary, Chelsea, Karyl/Johnny, Bruiser/Kongman

Tales of Phantasia [Playstation] [Japan only] [ToP, ToP-PSX]
A remake of Phantasia. The graphics were entirely redone, the vocals were all rerecorded and increased in quantity, there are new sidequests, new skills, new items, new FMVs, and even a new playable character who was previously an NPC. Even characterization was improved. (All the sequels are based on this version, so if you've only played the SFC version and you play ND2, ToF, or SamoRine, you may find yourself thinking, "Hey! Since when do these people have personalities?!")
Characters: Cless, Mint, Arche, Klarth, Chester, Suzu

Tales of Phantasia: Narikiri Dungeon [Gameboy (Color)] [Japan only] [ND1]
This poor game is often mistaken for another remake, but it's actually a direct sequel, the first of the series. This takes place a hundred or so years after ToP. It details the story of two children who are born with a doomed destiny, and their lives intertwine surprisingly with the events that took place in Tales of Phantasia.
Characters: Dio, Mel, Couleur

Tales of Eternia [Playstation] [Japan, North America] [ToE, ToD2e, ToDII]
(IMPORTANT NOTE: this was renamed "Tales of Destiny II" when released in English. Not a sequel to ToD.) Even more battle system advancements accompany this story about the relationship between and impending doom of two coexisting worlds. Like ToP-PSX, it has a Face Chat system, but it was mostly removed in the English version.
Characters: Reid/Rid, Farah, Meredy, Keele/Keel, Chat, Max/Fog, Ras/Race

Tales of Fandom Vol. 1 [Playstation] [Japan only] [ToF, ToF1]
This is a puzzle game and fandisk. Characters from Phantasia, Destiny, and Eternia interact in a bunch of cute skits. Here's your source for character backstory.

Tales of the World: Narikiri Dungeon 2 [Gameboy Advance] [Japan only] [ND2]
Unlike the first Narikiri Dungeon, this game isn't really a direct sequel. Frio and Calo/Kyaro/Caro must save their world with the aid of a divine power and the heroes of Phantasia, Destiny, and Eternia. As with Tales of Fandom, it's interesting to see the characters interact, and the expressive method of storytelling makes it easy to tell what the characters are feeling even if you can't tell what they're saying.
Characters: Frio, Kyaro, the 22 characters from ToP, ToD, and ToE

Tales of Destiny 2 [Playstation 2] [Japan, Asia] [ToD2, ToD2j]
A direct sequel to Tales of Destiny. Don't confuse it with the North American release of Tales of Eternia, which was renamed Tales of Destiny II. Anyway, this sequel focuses on Kyle, the child of Stahn and Rutee. The game involves traveling to the future and the past and meeting new characters along the way.
Characters: Kyle, Loni, Reala, Judas, Nanaly, Harold

Tales of the World: Summoner's Lineage [Gameboy Advance] [Japan only] [SamoRine]
This direct sequel to Tales of Phantasia is a strategy/tactical/simulation and monster-training RPG. The game takes place on ToP's world in the year 4765, and the cute cast is lead by Fulein K. Lester, Klarth's great-great-great-[etc]-grandson. Fulein saves the world from a grudge-holding and power-hungry dragon, avenges the death of several different people's parents, and becomes a good summoner all at once.
Characters: Fulein, Macaron, Mark/Myra, Velga, Volga, Elmira, Cless, Mint, Arche, Klarth, Chester, Suzu, various monsters

Tales of Phantasia [Gameboy Advance] [Japan, North America, Europe, Australia] [ToP, ToP-GBA]
A port of ToP using elements from both the SFC version and PSX version. Not as good as the PSX version.
Characters: Cress/Cless, Mint, Arche, Claus/Klarth, Chester, Suzu

Tales of Symphonia [GameCube] [Japan, North America, Europe, Australia] [ToS]
Takes place 4000+ years before Tales of Phantasia. Lloyd and the others accompany their friend Colette on her journey of world regeneration. However, they encounter some twists along the way.
Characters: Lloyd, Colette/Collet, Genis/Genius, Raine/Refill, Kratos, Sheena/Shihna, Zelos, Presea, Regal

Tales of Mobile: Tales of Tactics [NTT DoCoMo FOMA 900i] [Japan only] [ToT]
A crossover game. Pay 525 yen a month and you'll get a cute crossover SRPG called Tales of Tactics along with Craymel Lab (ToF's puzzle minigame) and a bunch of nifty Tales phone-related bonus features. Works only the following FOMA cellphones: N900i, N900iS, F900i, F900iT, F900iC, P900i, P900iV, SH900i.
Characters: Rukku, characters from other Tales titles

Tales of Rebirth [Playstation 2] [Japan, Asia] [ToR]
A game set on a world called Galegia where a human-like race called Huma and a beast-like race called Gajuma co-exist. All of the characters have a "force" that is unique to each person. The battle system is very different from any other Tales game, taking place in 2-D on three lines with several other unique quirks.
Characters: Veigue, Mao, Eugene, Annie, Tytree, Hilda

Tales of Symphonia [Playstation 2] [Japan only] [ToS]
This PS2 port was released in Japan only. It's the same game with a few additional minigames, sidequests, techs, and Mystic Artes.
Characters: Lloyd, Collet, Genius, Refill, Kratos, Shihna, Zelos, Presea, Regal

Tales of the World: Narikiri Dungeon 3 [Gameboy Advance] [Japan only] [ND3]
Another crossover game. Frio and Kyaro must travel through time to keep the past from being changed. Oddly enough, it doesn't really seem to be a sequel to ND2.
Characters: Frio, Kyaro, previous characters (ToP, ToD, ToE, ToD2, ToS)

Tales of Mobile: Tales of Breaker [NTT DoCoMo FOMA 900i] [Japan only] [ToB]
Subscription to Tales of Mobile now includes this cute little original Tales RPG and the Groovy Arche mini game from ToP-PSX. Works only the following FOMA cellphones: N900i, N900iS, F900i, F900iT, F900iC, P900i, P900iV, SH900i.
Characters: Mika, Yuuteki, Ivurin, Lulu, Popo, Zauber

Tales of Eternia [PSP] [Japan, Europe] [ToE-PSP]
A port of ToE for the PSP.
Characters: Reid/Rid, Farah, Meredy, Keele/Keel, Chat, Max/Fog, Ras/Race

Tales of Legendia [Playstation 2] [Japan, Asia, Korea, North America] [ToL]
This game was formerly known as Project MelFes. The story takes place on an enormous ship the size of an island called the Legacy. The game is divided into two parts, the main quest and the character quests. During the main quest, Senel and his companions set out on a journey to save Shirley, a young girl known as the Merines. The second half of the game revolves around the individual characters and their personal struggles.
Characters: Senel, Shirley, Will, Chloe, Norma, Moses, Grune, Jay

Tales of Mobile: Tales of Commons [NTT DoCoMo FOMA 900i] [Japan only] [ToC]
Alvin and a mysterious girl named Sephina explore the world of Yupitel in this mobile RPG. The game uses a modified version of the linear motion battle system and features the first vocal theme song in the Tales of Mobile series.
Characters: Alvin, Sephina, Seiun, You

Tales of the Abyss [Playstation 2] [Japan, Asia, North America] [ToA, TotA]
A title created for the 10th anniversary of the Tales series in Japan. Luke, the main character, is a sheltered noble boy who is one day swept from his home and thrust into the real world. He meets comrades along the way and must ultimately make several life-altering decisions.
Characters: Luke, Tear, Jade, Guy, Anise, Natalia, Asch

Tales of Eternia Online [PC/Windows] [Japan only] [ToEO]
An MMORPG based on Tales of Eternia. This game had a monthly fee of 1500 yen but didn't run for very long. Servers have been taken down.
Characters: Other players

Tales of Mobile: Tales of Wahrheit [NTT DoCoMo FOMA 900i] [Japan only] [Wahrheit]
The fourth game in the Tales of Mobile collection. The mobile-modified linear motion battle system from Breaker and Commons is used again here. A companion game, Tales of Wahrheit Colosseum, allows players to engage in tournament-style combat using the Wahrheit battle system.
Characters: Seltz, Vira, Blitz, Karuru, Gammit, Rei

Tales of Phantasia: Full Voice Edition [PSP] [Japan only] [ToP: FVE, FVE]
A remastered edition of Tales of Phantasia. Every story-related cutscene is fully voiced to enhance the storytelling. Other minor upgrades have been made as well, including updates to the main characters' battle sprites.
Characters: Cless, Mint, Arche, Klarth, Chester, Suzu

Tales of the Tempest [NDS] [Japan only] [ToT, TotT]
In the distant past, Lycanths ruled the continent of Areura, but a forbidden technology they activated ravaged their population. Humans seized power and now ostracize and hunt the Lycanths for their involvement in disasters past. When the main character, Caius, is forced to flee his hometown as a result of these tensions, he heads for the capital with his childhood friend Rubia to find his father.
Characters: Caius, Rubia, Tilkis, Forest, Arria

Tales of Destiny Remake [Playstation 2] [Japan, Asia] [ToDR]
A remake of Tales of Destiny on the Playstation 2. Back with brand new graphics, an overhauled battle system, added story, and many other other new elements, this is the definitive version of Tales of Destiny.
Characters: Stan, Lion, Rutee, Phillia, Woodrow, Johnny, Chelsea, Kongman, Lilith

Tales of the World: Radiant Mythology [PSP] [Japan, North America, Europe] [ToW: RM, RM, TotW: RM, RadiMyth, RediMai]
A spin-off of the Tales series for the PSP. Like some of the previous games that bear the Tales of the World title, this game is a crossover title featuring characters from various Tales games. The player gets to create his or her own character to serve as the main character.
Characters: Descender, previous characters (ToP, ToD, ToE, ToD2, ToS, ToR, ToL, TotA)

Tales of Destiny 2 [PSP] [Japan only] [ToD2, ToD2j]
This is a port of the Playstation 2 title. A few things were added including new Mystic Arte cut-ins. Bugs were corrected.
Characters: Kyle, Loni, Reala, Judas, Nanaly, Harold

Tales of Fandom Vol. 2 [Playstation 2] [Japan] [ToF2]
This is the second game in the Tales of Fandom sub-series and is referred to as a voice adventure. There is an adventure mode where you can play as all of the characters from the Tales of Symphonia, Tales of Phantasia, and Tales of the Abyss. It includes things like a timing battle, a card game, and much more.

Tales of Innocence [NDS] [Japan] [ToI]
In the peaceful capital of Regnum, paranoia has begun to sweep the land as people with strange special powers have started to surface. Characters: Ruca, Iria, Spada, Ange, Ricardo, Hermana

Tales of Destiny Remake: Director's Cut [Playstation 2] [Japan, Asia] [ToD : DC, ToDR: DC]

Tales of Vesperia [XBox 360] [Japan, North America, Europe] [ToV]
In the world of Terca Lumireis, people use an ancient technology known as "blastia" to ease the burden of living in a hostile world overrun by monsters. Large-scale blastia create barriers to protect cities, and other less sizeable blastia can do anything from providing light to enhancing a wearer's abilities. When the aque blastia, a device that controls the flow of water in the lower quarter of the Imperial Capital Zaphias, is stolen, a former knight named Yuri sets off on a quest to hunt down the thief. As he journeys, however, he uncovers a world that seems hopelessly corrupt, and he is forced to decide for himself just what the true meaning of justice is.
Characters: Yuri, Estelle, Rita, Karol, Repede, Judith, Raven, Flynn

Tales of Hearts [NDS] [Japan] [ToH]
A continent ruled by a sprawling empire has known many years of peace, but as mythic creatures from the fairy tales told amongst the people of the land gradually become a reality, that serenity is broken. A beast called the Zerom is one of the most insidious of these creatures, feasting on the hearts, or Spiria, of the people. As a means of self-defense, the Spiria generate Spir Mazes, labyrinths which can only be accessed by tools known as Soma. Characters: Asbel, Sophie, Cheria, Hubert, Malik, Pascal, Richard

Tales of VS. for Mobile [NTT DoCoMo KDDI Softbank Mobile] [Japan] [ToVSM]

You can manage equipment, titles, and occupations, and you can join Heidr, Hraesvelgr, Nidhogg, or Dyne to take part in the race for the world tree's fruit. About English Release

Namco Bandai is the only reliable source for information on future North American localizations. If someone tells you that a certain Tales game is being released in English, you should remain skeptical until you see Namco Bandai confirm it. How is IGN, for example, supposed to know whether a certain game will be in English if the publisher hasn't even decided yet?

Games to Expect in the U.S.

Well not quite but still it was one of the best game ever made.

Here our plee Namco made a sequel or prequel with the same charecters! Pray

The mistake was probably GameFAQs, not yours. They trust pretty much anyone for release dates, even sources that are known to practically make up information.

Behold and be amazed; "Tales of the World" apparently is relate to ToS somehow. Look at the cool screens I found at IGN!

Fawkesedited: Turned them into links for ease of load. And check out the other thread Cyllya made.

I really am confused as to how they can continue the story after ToS, but I am REALLY looking foward to this. It seems Namco hasn't forgotten Nintendo after all. After hearing that "Chrono Trigger: Ressurection" was cancelled; this is definentally something I needed to hear to stop me from losing all hope in life.

That's strange...

In one of the pics, Lloyd is holding the Flamberge in his right hand. Last time I checked, Flamberge is a sword for Kratos or Zelos.

Kratos gives Lloyd the Flamberge, and Dirk gives Lloyd the icy Vorpal sword. When Lloyd uses them the pair is known as the Material Blade.

It's a crossover, not a direct sequel.

Judging by the quality of the screens, it's for GBA.
I wonder if it's got anything to do with Lloyd's journey to collect all the Exshperes in the world?
It's got Sheena and Lloyd in it so I'm happy! Very Happy
Definately a must-get!

Wow. That's pretty clever...
That way, they can still be the same characters but have a whole new story and stuff... wow... Exclamation
